I'm very excited about next weekends all-star game. I'm sure that C.J. Yoder, Brian Yingling and company aren't flying in from Colorado to take a shelling and then laugh it off at the "Beef and Beer" festivities. While I know that the game is to show the skills of the players in the league, I must admit that even I will be primed a little bit for this one. The only thing I wish was slighty different is the selection process for determining who goes. I feel that a player like J.D. Davison, who is having as good a year as anyone, and by the way, was last years all-star game MVP or Joe D'lasio, regarded by many, including myself, as the top goalie over the last two years in PIHA, not being apart of all-star weekend is a little disheartning. I guess there are one or two players from every team that may have the same gripe, those two are mine. I look forward to seeing everyone at the game next week. Lets go East !!!

I have to agree about the selection process, not that i should complain because it's probably why i'm going... there has to be a better way to do it than to have each team pick its own representatives, and to say each team only gets one or two players. try telling the yankees they can have a-rod in the all star game, and then only one more player between jeter, sheffield and rivera... i think one observation i have, is that in roller hockey, 8 players is usually the normal number to dress for a game, and 12 is considered too much by a lot of teams. i dont think it would be too awful if the all star teams dressed 12 and ran 3 whole lines. ask any ice hockey player, it's not that bad if you shorten up your shifts, and it also helps the pace of the games when everyone stays fresh... obviously there isnt a perfect solution, even at the highest levels of sport, you see people complain about "snubs"... but im sure as the league grows, the process will be refined. either way, it should be a great set of games to say the least... anthony, got any lines together yet? see everyone there...

honestly, you could have 7 or 8 guys from the growl on this team if you don't limit it some way. maybe the way to go is by standings at a certain point and make it top heavy for the league leaders and so on down the line. again we go back to the fact that you can't please everyone.

12 is the right number for most roller hockey games... we "growl" use 12 almost all of the time, while it sucks not being out there as much as i'd like, it keeps us all fresh...

Agreed that an all-star game should be 12 players, but on a regular team it is very tough playing with more then 8 guys, I tend to lose interest in the game and rhythm. In ice hockey its not bad playing with 3 lines but more then that it also sucks.
The Dog's minor league team has 13 skaters on there website while the Scrappers have 14 players. That is 27 skaters in the minors for the Growl. You could make 3 teams of 9 from that but the unfortunate thing is that not everyone travels which blows, while everyone and their grandmother comes to the home games which also blows. What I am getting at here which is pretty much off topic is that many teams overload because there is not a consistent amount of players at each game.

The league has to look at the $$$ aspect also. although 12 skaters would make two more players happy, that's two more plane tix, another hotel room, and probably some more transportation that needs to be paid for.
I like the ideas though. Can't wait for the weekend series.

That is exactly why I do it. No topic makes me angier then when one of my players complains that there are too many players on the bench. Without a doubt it is always one of the players that fails to attend road games on a regular basis. Having all those players is a security blanket for us GM's so that we know we will always have enough to field a competetive team on the road. Sometimes we still have to make call ups or call downs, which only supports our case.

Flynn this is Altomare, I see where you think i am complaing but im not, I am just saying that this is the way it has to be because of people not showing up on the road, no complaint from me, I completley understand what you are saying.
