This is a fact.

USA Hockey is making a move to take over the NGB from USA Roller Sports.

Is that good?

It probably isn't, as USA Hockey has not proven that it really cares about inline hockey.

Leadership at USA Hockey Inline has come and go with 3 different directors during the past 4 years. It's a job fore those guys, nothing more. They have never proven that they care about the sport of inline hockey.

Why would we want an organization whose main concern is ice hockey to run our sport, Makes no sense.

It is a well known fact that USA Hockey has supplied its inline membership lists to member ice rinks to recruit inline players to ice. USA Hockey will always exist to serve its main membership-ice hockey.

USA Hockey receives a HUGE check every year from the USOC to promote ice hockey and now it is just looking for another check from the USOC for inline hockey.

Every time you receive an issue of American Hockey look at the coverage of inline and that will accurately reflect how much USA Hockey cares about our sport. It is greedy and only cares about getting your $25 membership.

USARS is certainly not a great organization either but they do not deserve to have their NGB taken away frlom them. And certainly not by USA Hockey.

Think of all the dollars you have paid out to USA Hockey and then multiply that by hundreds of thousands of members over the years and it really amounts to a lot of money. Now think what could have been done with all those dollars. A lot.

What was done? NOTHING>

USA Hockey does not deserve to be the NGB of this sport based upon past performance.

FIRS is the organization that controls who the NGB is, however if the IOC in their infinite wisdom decides to santion the IIHF and not FIRS as the top dog, then USAHIL will likely be the NGB in the IOC's eyes..much like the FIS issue when snowboarding came in to my favorite quadrennial event and was promptly put under the ski federation.

As for getting nothing out of USAHockey, those Wendy's coupons a ways back was a nice touch, how much can you offer people when $15 of the membership fees is profit

First the profit is more like 20 per member we self insured our league for 3.85 per player so the math is a little larger. Now lets do the math and lets be conservative 25,000 members x 20.00 is 500,000 in pure profit. Most of the employee base is volunteer and I know they do not pay a national director 100,000 annually, if so we should be calling for his head for being overpaid. they as well run regionals and national events and entries run from 400 to 600 a team. They then strip the hourly rate from the rink owner down to 75.00 per hour when the rink needs 200.00 to survive and say they are doing all they can for the sport of rollerhockey. I do not buy it and the sad part no one at USA Inline or USA RS is listening. In 5 years we want to be thought of as an Olynpic sport, yet in reality we might be going the way of the dodo. Inline hockey needs a leader with brains, but more important with passion, not some retired Ice player or young gun hotshot roller player, WE need a selfless promoter with passion for growth. The keys for any group to become successful is judged not by what they take but how much they give. USA Inline and USA RS continue to take without giving back to our sport, I'll give USA Hockey credit they do a lot for the Ice player and they recruit the hell out of the inline player to play ice but many of us are inline players. USA RS has no CLUE. The old gaurd would all have to retire or die for change to happen with those backwoods political IDIOTS. Until time is passed and the right group with the right leadership steps up we will be second tier at best. But maybe thats no all bad at least were playing hockey.
