Rich, first an apology

I never come on other boards to boast about other message boards, and especially not IHC. However, I can't help but want to draw your attention to the college roller hockey message board in NCRHA specifically a thread titled "Dress Code" located here:

<A HREF="http://www.collegerollerhockey.net/bb/viewforum.php?f=5" target="_new">http://www.collegerollerhockey.net/bb/viewforum.php?f=5</A>

Its a LONG thread but it is full of issues that have splintered off from the topic and it is turning into a thread about the challenges that roller hockey faces and need for more support in the public eye.

IHC has a very good following of serious readers who have shown how much they care about this sport so I wanted to mention this discussion is taking place by a bunch of college kids and I would love for you to all read it.

Please read ALL the posts in the thread - like I said, there are a lot! But every post has great points and issues from professionalism to lack of money to lack of support in general for roller hockey.

Anyhow, sorry again Rich, no disrespect meant to IHC for bringing attention to our mesage board topic.

Rebecca

Hi Rebecca,

No apology necessary; I appreciate different perspectives, and I'm sure that IHC's readers do as well.

Sincerely,

The post that was mentioned above has some very good topics in it. One of the big ones I saw was how much exposure roller hockey gets. Which in my area is not very much. At UNLV where I was trying to get a team going I could not get players because there are not any or because they would flake. The problem in my opinion is that there needs to be a way to get kids involved in the sport through a national program. Then trough this program learn about the different levels of competion espically the high school and college level. This is just my opinion and feel free to tear it apart.

Another thing that was talked about was a dress code for college hockey. And out of this topic there was talk about proper locker rooms and showers. I have always felt the there should be showers in roller hockey rinks because we all stink afterwords. Most locker rooms where I have played are not bad but could be better. The big thing most people had was they stunk because someone decided to put carpet on the walls and benches. There are lots of things to be done with this situation and the only way I can think of is a code requiring showers at buildings with any sports.

The orgianl topic was about a dress code espically off the rink. I know this will never be inforced in rec leagues. The only thing that should be inforced in rec leagues is that teams have matching jerseys. They do not have to be expensive jerseys just the $10 practice jerseys.

Like I said early these are my opinions and feel free to tear them apart.
