2. NY Invitational
Courtesy of Mark Marino:
To all,
I just wanna say thanks to all the teams who participated in the event over
the weekend. I think all the teams did a hell of a job getting out there and
I hope everyone had a good time.
Special thanks to my Refs Jay Mike and Joe - you guys are pros. Everyone who
helped out running around and whatever it didn't go unnoticed. Thanks again.
I look forward to doing it again next year.
Congratulations to 1st Place SUNY Binghamton and 2nd Place SUNY Brockport
Pictures- I spoke to a few guys about pictures I have about 8 rolls of film
that I need to get developed and once I do I plan on scanning them in and
e-mailing them out to everyone, plus some will probably get posted on
ECRHA.net
Stats- Some guys were also interested in Stats. I'm not sure what I'm goin
to do with all them, it's really a lot of extra work to tally them up for
everyone but I will try and make the stats available via e-mail, or I might
just make co! pies of the scoresheets and mail them out, but nothing
definite yet.
I'm posting this on ecrha.net on the message board, feel free to go there
and let me know what you all thought of the tourney, I love feedback so I
know what I could have done better. Thanks.
I'll keep you guys posted on anything else going on. Talk to you soon.

3. JMU @ The Third Annual Carolina Hurricanes Collegiate Challenge
Invitational
Courtesy of Jason White:
The James Madison University team competed in the 3rd Annual Carolina
Hurricanes Collegiate Challenge Invitational on April 13th. The past two
years the Dukes were upset in the semi-finals of the tournament, first by
Duke University and then by Elon College.
It would be different this year.
JMU defeated NC State 7-3 in its first round robin game. Captain Charlie
Frasso led the team offensively with four goals. Frasso would tally 13 goals
by the end of the weekend.
The team then reverted to it's past performances at the tournament and lost
it's next two round robin games. Strong goaltending by Sophomore Mike
Gottschalk and another hat trick by Frasso helped the team coast past ECU
'B' in the semi-final game by a score of 8-2.
JMU then faced East Carolina University in the final. Key defenseman Jason
White suffered a broken nose after a stick to the face midway through the
first half. White had 1 goal and 8 assists before the injury. The team
quickly went down by a score of 3-2 by the end of the half.
Rebounding from the injury, White returned for the second half. The Dukes
quickly tied the game on a slapshot from senior Jeff Dinkelmeyer. Two
minutes later, freshman Tim Pitkewitz scored again for the Dukes, putting
JMU up by a score of 4-3. Relying of defense and the strong goaltending of
Gottschalk, the Dukes were able to hold off the ECU Pirates for the 4-3
Championship win.

4. Exciting Action At RIT's Spring Hockey Meltdown
Courtesy of www.RITrollerhockey.com:
The Second Annual Spring Hockey Meltdown held at the ESL Sports Centre on
Saturday, May 5, proved to be a tremendous source for excitement as the RIT
Rolling Tigers edged the RIT Men's Ice Hockey Team 9-8 with only 27 seconds
left to play in the final quarter. Not only did the two teams combine
efforts to provide an action-packed game for the fans, but the event was a
success in boosting school pride as well as raising $800+ for the United Way
and the Joseph T. Ferraro Scholarship Fund.
5. ECRHA Magazine
Courtesy of Mark Marino:
Hello all,
For those who may or may not know, the ECRHA board has been discussing the
idea of putting together a Magazine for next year. There have been many
ideas and possibilities being kicked around but what I'd like to really do
is give the many college students we have in our region the chance to
participate and contribute to the magazine...
If all goes to plan, then very soon we'll be looking for some people who
want to submit articles about our league, individual players, or anything
relating to our sport. Also the floor is open to
photographers, and anyone who's experienced with journalism, I.e. Layout,
editing, etc. So if you'd like to get involved with writing for the
magazine please e-mail me @ [email protected] and I'll put you're name
on the e-mail list to keep you posted with any info. Thanks.
