Hi
I am looking at buying some new gloves and a stick for some state and national play. My choices for the gloves are Bauer SDP, Bauer Vapor XV, Easton Air, Synergy 1100 and the Synergy 900. Which one would be best in terms of feel and flex? I am not really worried about protection that much since all of these gloves had good protection. What stick would be good that would last a while and has a nice feel? I am on a budget so it can't be really top of the range.

any advice would be greatly appreciated thanks

somewhere on this board, I asked everybody what they felt the best stuff was...

my suggestions...if you can't afford the Eagle gloves, then get the highest-end Bauer or Easton that you can afford...comfort is generally considered to be the top, trumps-all-else factor anyway.

Get the most expensive Easton stick you can, even an old ultra-light will get you some durability...that new green Easton model I would stay away from, however...a real economy model, but I've broken two of 'em in two months, which is a world record for me, I have nowhere near the level of skill required to break sticks a lot...

As a total aside, you might consider another route...when I was a kid, I went from a Mickey Mantle or Carl Yastremski model baseball bat to a Harmon Killebrew model..the former two were thin handle grip, "whippy quick," while the Killebrew model was a frekin' log by comparison...I have recently been trying out "logs" for hockey sticks...that is, old, clunky wooden ones..In fact, have a very old, Bobby Orr pattern model manufactured by Northland in 1975 for Central League teams...It's fun, I still have no touch or feel for the puck after three weeks, but I can now blame the stick for anything...

Experiment, have fun...
