OK... I've only been playing about 2 months. What can I do to aleviate the pain and tightness in my lower back. I skate for 20 minutes and I can't even stand up straight. Any suggestions?

Thanks- Matt

Try skating more, stretching before and after really helps. You might also try doing more situps/crunches. This builds up back muscle as wellas your abs.

Consult the advice of a doctor. An injury to your back or pain in your back may eventually cause problems for you in your everyday life along with your playing. Never Ever take the advice of anything or anyone else unless your doctor agrees with the advice. There are many injuries that may seem similar, but if the differ in the slightest, a cure for one thing may cause further damage for another.

ditto on the abs. they'll make more of a diff. than your back muscles. also, try adjusting your stride and stance. a wider stride and stance can help keep you more solid and rely less on leaning forward. your stick length will also come into effect.
