Longtime since my last post, but felt this was worth it enough to talk about....No one really knows what is going on tomorrow at Marple, but I plan on showing up for the skate ( haven't played indoor since the Dogs lost to the minutement in June). Anyone plan on skating with me? I don't want to be the only one at 3 skating on Marple's big rink. I have talked to Jamie about what the deal is, and basically it will be a whole new team ( shocking I know). The obvious is that CJ is gone, Smith, Mike J is done, Yingling Light is in Denver, and not sure what the deal is with other guys from the past. JJ wants to play, so I would assume he will be there tomorrow. As for the team, there will be a practice time and facility for the Gladiators to play at. Like most teams in the MLRH, the travel expenses you incur will be up to the player. There are supposed to be some real up and comers from the JR gladiator teams there, so it should be interesting if they or anyone will show up. Yokes is interested in goal, and whoever else may decide to don the pads for the two hour slot. If a good turnout does come about, I will help out to the best of my ability to make it a meaningful two hours. Any questions, shoot me a reply via here or PM, and I can try to explain what I know so far....

Today is October 25th....
There aren't many free tryouts in the area, but not surprisingly, we only had 10 guys show up at the arena. Trust me when I say this to everyone, the team is not picked. The Philadelphia Gladiators, of MLRH, are looking for guys that can play in a contact oriented league and do it well. With that being said, committment is a huge part of this task. We have a rink to play out of, and uniforms will be provided by Jamie himself. I would really be shocked if no one wanted to play for this team, as in the past, it has been very successful with 2 titles in MLRH. So you are thinking, Dave, what is the catch? Well, there really isn't here. No one asking for money up front, just looking for bodies that will fill out a roster that will compete in 14 games and playoffs. Anyway, if you are interested ( as I have PM'd some of you on the board already), shoot me a message here or at my profile's email address. Other than that, I would love to hear from you.

Anyway, my role with the gladiators was eliminated...Not that I was surprised lol. Again, if you are interested on getting on a team, I seem to be the man with the answers for now....

Fine, TJ, you asked for it, you got it....Was called by Bill Raue about helping out the gladiators tryout on October 22nd, when I knew I was going to attend anyway for the practice time. I had a total of 7 guys show up, some of which had no PIHA nor MLRH experience on their resume. I then got a list from Mike Jacobs of the Gladiator guys to try and organize a practice for November 12th. Again, I got a total of 6 guys, with a few of the old Pottstown Firebird guys there. JJ had called me that weekend telling me that they were all set, that they would get the gladiators and oattakringer guys all together for the team. After this call, I kind of knew that Ron would run the team, along with JJ Devinney. I have no problem with this because my job allows me to crap around with hockey stuff from time to time. I called the arena last week to find out there was a practice on November 19th, at 5PM. I ended up going to this practice and there was 16 guys there ( pretty high calibur). So, now we are at today...Basically, I have talked to Bill Raue a lot over the last month and now am trying to help the Cougars from Jersey get off the ground. They are scheduled to play on December 3rd, against the Virginia Wings, at Skaters Choice, 7PM. This is where we stand, so I guess I am now a member of the Jersey team. I must say, for all my gripes about PIHA in the past, they really do have it very well organized and I am glad to be apart of the Pittsburgh franchise. As for this Jersey team, I am in the process of gathering guys for the game with JJ from Skaters Choice ( not devinney). Some entertainment for this turkey holiday...

I do feel bad for Dave, but he does find a place to play. He might lack a little on talent but not on heart, i give him alot for that!! Luckily i wont be going all the way to Pitt for PIHA, just harrisburgh. He's a little more dedicated.
I hope my new pads came with that 30 save guarantee they promised!!
Edited by yokes on 11/23/05 07:48 PM.

Thanks for the kind words J, but with so many people who played PIHA Pro the last five years who really don't deserve a spot, enough was enough for me. You hit the nail on the head, I am certainly not a gamebreaker by any means, but my committment and effort are there every game. I am sure you guys will do well out in Marple, and your guess is as good as mine what goes down this Saturday in Sewell. Hope everyone had a great thanksgiving.
