I just joined this board. I'm a 32 yr old female goalie who plays both ice and inline. Mostly rec leagues but on travel teams and in tournaments when possible. I have played in various levels and both on men's and women's teams.
Although I'm comfortable playing with both the guys and the gals, I play better in the higher levels. Unfortunately, in my area I haven't found any women's inline leagues. And our women's ice leagues are not usually seperated into skill levels, just "women".
Although I play in women's leagues because I have ties and friendships there, I prefer to play with the guys. I know several others that feel the same, but many who won't play against the men because some of them can get pretty chippy when a girl outplays them.
Anyhow, I've noticed after playing in mainly women's leagues (C/D level play) for the last couple of seasons that my performance has gotten worse. I'm now on a men's "D" level league and although doing well, I was playing B level travel ice and A/B level inline not so long ago and I'm working on getting back to that.
Just wondering if any of you have similar experiences...

When you are not challenged, you get lazy and bad habits creep in. Try to find a college team that will let you practice with them.
