I was planning on going. Unfortunatley I had a bad car accident this week and am not sure now if I will make it - still hoping to though.

Anyone else going who might want to split hotel room?

Rebecca

ECRHA Van vs fat momma deer at 82 mph on I-64 in Kentucky (speed limit is 75 by the way) = deer wins.

I hit the deer 45 miles from my horse show on I-64 in the tiny little town of Morehead (HAHAHAHA who names a town this???). I was in the left hand lane and it was PITCH BLACK. The deer won, though she died. I totaled my van and laid it on its side. No one stopped. Trucks flew by at 90mph and no one stopped. I was suspended in the van by my seatbelt and couldn't open the door. It was heavy and crinkled and too hard to open. When I realized I was still alive and in one peice, I was able to reach my cell phone and called 911 and they came in less than 2 minutes. The troopers climbed on the car and pulled me out. I appeared to be 100% UNINJURED, which was a miracle.

I did have a major anxiety attack and they took me in the squad car to the offramp so I could calm down. They towed my truck away to some backwoods yard and then took me to a local hotel and dumped me. I threw up when I got out of the car and the cop insisted I go to the hospital but I was freaking out too much. There was nothing more they could do for me and he just left me in the hotel lobby. I guess it was at that point that the trooper realized how delerious I was and drove me right to the hospital (in the opposite direction no less). I got sick again and realized how blue my leg was turning so I agreed to go to the hospital. Turns out I had a major concussion and a badly injured leg, and many many bruises. I was in the hospital over a day and on Saturday I got out, and began my quest to figure it all out and how I would get home.

I then took a cab from the hospital to the Holiday Inn which cost me $150! Then I had to connect with my horie-friends to figure out what to do and how to get home. Some offered to drive me back but they weren't leaving until Sunday night or even Monday and I just couldn't bring myself to get into a vehicle. Sooooooooo I ended up on a Greyhound Bus for a 23 hr trip back to Manhattan where my boyfriend picked me up and drove me home to Long Island. Then I went to sleep and slept 18 hrs. I am still sick and my head still hurts.

It was a total nightmare. My van is still in KY and all my work gear is in it. I was supposed to be in Philly yesterday for a week hockey trip (USAHIL Nationals). I hope to go today but and still very shaken up and nervous about driving. I guess I should be lucky to be alive.

Next year I am planning better and not going alone.
STUPID DEER!

Geez, Rebecca,

Sorry to hear the sorrowful details about your accident. I guess you're lucky that you didn't hit a bear!

Get well soon, and ease off on the gas pedal... Sheesh, you sound like me.

Sincerely,
