View Full Version : My HE750's suck...go to Ice boot ?
06-18-2005, 05:32 PM
I just got a pair of 750's and I have only skated them about 5 times. I've already pulled two of the little plastic lace guides out of the boot, and this wasn't even pulling hard on them. I also broke several of the Factory wheels already, which in my opinion are the worst wheels I have ever skated on, period. I broke one in my very first shift. Anyways, I'm thinking of taking the chassis(which seem to be fine, knock on wood) and mounting them on an Ice boot. I'm a pretty big guy, and I want durability over lightness, so I'm looking at CCM Tacks mostly, because it looks like I can trust their build quality and sturdiness. First off, is this possible, and secondly, what kind of skate will I end up with? Anyone done this or something similar before?

As long as the person who Mounts them knows what they are doing it will be fine. Problem is finding someone who cares enough to do it right. Best of luck!

i have a pair of tacks with an inline chasis and they work well. ive always been a fan of tacks ice skates so if you like those, i would definently recommend it.

i've heard similar comments from others about the heliums. I've used many coverted ice hockey skates. It can work well.

I used a pair of Vapor 8 ice boots for about 4 years and then went to the old style Vapor 10's. No problems with either. Like above, make sure they get mounted correctly.

1. I once mounted a sure grip chassis on a pair of Mission proto-v's...the old models, not the last few years or so...actually drilled holes, shaved off the mid-boot part of the sole that stuck out, put in flat head bolts with nuts and it worked perfectly.
2. Has anybody heard any admit from Mission that its past three years of skate models generally seem to have bitten the big one? The litany of problems with what once was the top R&D and quality control brand in the world has gone to balderdash.
Geez, I remember myself on this board praising these guys for being cutting edge year after year...
Anybody from Mission care to comment.
