Just a notice to all interested. I was told today that the PIHA playoffs will take place Saturday, June 4th at Susquehanna Sports Center in Harrisburg. It apparently is a one day event beginning at 11:00 am. When I know more I will post.

Months of hockey, the games, the practices, the injuries, the travel, the weekends away from girlfriends, families and kids.......all for one day.....say it ain't so.

For all those reasons, sounds good to me. I don't see a point to drawing it out unnecessarily.

I am puzzled by this decision myself, but the games still must be played whether its one day or two weeks.

IMO its not the best idea only because this is marketed as "PROFESSIONAL", and whichever teams play in the finals will be tiered from the semi's... is it me or will the teams not be at the best they can be??? espcailly if one series goes to overtime, or a third game, seems unfair... again just my .02, i just wish i could play :/

Guess this means we'll see who the best Skilled team/Conditioned team is. Come on guys... who hasn't played in the different tournaments and played At Least 2 games in a day.
Not saying this is the way I would have done it, but ya know.

Frankly, I find it ridiculous. Who could be happy with this decision? Start the protest now. Demand the second day.

true we all play tournaments, but are we not marketed as "PROFESSIONAL"??? that's like having the devils play the flyers in the morning in the conf. finals and then having them play detroit that night for the stanley cup.

You think there hasn't been protest? Trust me there has been pleanty of protest about more then just the timing of the playoffs... Location, rosters, teams showing up, ect.

Here is the bottom line. Decisions are made for a reason and we must do what is best for the league. I am confident that decisions weren't made to benefit any one particular team, so there is nothing to really complain about.

How is the potential for forcing the team that is going to be facing the Typhon to play three games prior to the championship series good for anyone?
I have followed the league closely this year and find this playoff format to be flat out stupid. After this long of a season it is crazy to end it in one day with one of the two teams playing for the championship having to possibly play six games.

Since the Yoder boys are not playing, why bother at all?

I've been wait for this all season. I guess we should just not play since CJ isn't playing. How coulde a league exist without him for a season. The Typhoon seem to be doing quite well without him. In my opinion they are a much better team this year then in years past. Was CJ the best player in the league, without a doubt. However they are much deeper then they ever have been and their goaltending is ten times better now then it ever has been. Maybe we will play after all.

I understand your points, but it is what it is and we must deal with it and move on. Like i said, the games still need to be played, no matter where or when.

while i don't agree with everything that goes on in this league i have one thing to say about this...there is no way in hell that the growl should not have been the number one seed with the roster that they have. so, win your games during the regular season and you'd be sitting there watching at 3:00 waiting to play the winner at 8:00. we all play in the tournament series and you play a hell of alot more hockey in those than you will have to this saturday.

That's a dumb and immature statement. Look at most TEAMS that win championships on the highest level of their sport. Team play and will to win, overcomes superstar presence. Perfect example was the Pistons last year taking down Shaq and Kobe.

If you are going on strength of roster they should have been handed the championship before the season started, but things do not work that way. In a sense the same could have been said for the Typhon the last two seasons.
I'm not sure what the original plans were for the playoffs, but if they were shortened to one day because of the Minutemen's failure to have enough eligible players it sort of cheapens the whole thing. I have enjoyed watching PIHA for the past three years but this looks like a repeat of what happened to the XIHL championship.

What happened to the venue for this Championship game? It was supposed to be at Feasterville and 2Hot4Ice Tournament was actually breaking during that game so that the boys participating in the tournament this weekend could watch the PIHA Game. This game was moved and the registration for the tournament has dropped 50% Teams looking to watch or play in the tournament now have other obligations at a different rink. Players who would have coached teams in the tournament now are not available to have their teams participate. 2Hot4Ice trying to make it's rounds in the area is being affected big time.

hence my initial statement that i do not agree with everything that goes on in this league, but i'm sure there were reasons for this happening. i could care less what they are i just look forward to playing the game on the rink.

Was all part of my arguement. The real reason for the venue change may never be know. I have been pretty much kept in the dark about what ever the reason was. I'm sorry to all those who were looking forward to the PIHA playoffs at Sportsplex. No one was looking forward to the possibility of the Growl in the finals in front of their home crowd more then I was.

Wishing the Growl the best of luck! Wish it was at Feasterville so that we could watch the game and cheer you on but I guess well just have to wait for results! Make us proud!

Having the roster we have has its highs and lows. When they are all there we won games with ease. However it is also tough when many players have other priorites like TORHS, Worlds, PAN AM ect. I knew this coming into the year and am in no way complaining about it or even taking the side of the arguement of this post. However, whether the Growl should be ashamed of not being the first seed or handed the championship at the beginning is ridiculous. You can only put four players on the rink at a time and the Typhoon's top four are as good as any four we can put on the rink. I renew nobody's statement, that I have no idea who growlfan13 is and they do not speak for our organization. I appreciate their concerns and point of view, but as I have continued to say... The games must still be played and I look forward to an amazing finish to this season.

Thank you very much Pedro. Please pass along our apology to 2Hot4Ice, and let them know that we did everything we could to keep the playoffs at Sportsplex. Best of luck to Team breakaway this weekend.

Well I am a fly on the wall in this one, but it wrecked my weekend to Feasterville also so I will not be attending so my apologies also to 2Hot4Ice.
