Hi Folks,

Here's some late-breaking news from Canada Inline.

CHATHAM, Ontario, Canada - Canada Inline, the national governing body for inline hockey, member of the Canadian Olympic Committee, and proud member of the Federation of Roller Sports (FIRS), announces today that the Ottawa 86er's inline hockey team, operated the past four years by General Manager, Larry O'Brien and Coach Greg Riley, will represent Canada at the 11th Annual FIRS World Inline Hockey Championships in the south of France, from July 1-9, 2005.

The Ottawa 86'ers have been Canada's most successful youth club team domestically and internationally the past four years. In 2003 they were invited to wear the Team Ontario jerseys to compete in the World In-line Cup (WIC) in Edmonton, where they won the 16 and under championship. In 2004 they won the WIC 18 and under championship as 17 year olds against an older Team USA. The Ottawa 86'ers have been very successful at some of the top North American inline tournaments with NARCH and TORHS.

"The Ottawa 86'ers have been a first-class team in every event they have participated in and Canada Inline is proud to have such a fine group of young men and their staff represent our organization at the World Championships in 2005," said Dave Easter, the president and CEO of Canada Inline.

The 86'ers, now known as Team Canada, will host a camp in June and head to France on June 26 to begin preparation to win Gold. The core group of players of the Ottawa 86ers will be augmented by some members of last year's world championship team and take on the elite of men's world in-line teams from 16+ countries.

"We will be expecting tough European Teams to be assembled that will challenge our young Team Canada squad along with the number-one ranked Team USA," said **** Morrison, Canada Inline's national director for high performance.

Additional roster selections will be made in May, and an additional three players will be selected to represent Canada in the 2005 World In-Line Cup in France.

The existing team members of the Ottawa 86ers have considerable experience in Ice and In-line hockey. See below for the core group of Ottawa 86'ers that will be making the trip to France.
