I was just wondering what kind of pets do people have. I have tropical fish and my parents have 7 cats. I still live at home while going to college. To some of us our pets are our kids.

Hi John,

I don't currently have any pets because I move around too damn much and usually live in apartments, so I couldn't have a dog if I wanted one.

Though I don't have any pets now, I have had fish and lizards. I named the Anole lizard "Luc" (Robitaille) and the Madagascar gecko "Gretzky" and I had them both in a terrarium in my InLine Hockey News office in Santa Monica. One day I fed them and forgot to replace the screen at the top of the terrarium and Gretzky got out. A friend of mine said, "Maybe he's in St. Louis!" (This was right after Gretzky was traded from the Los Angeles Kings to the St. Louis Blues).

Our family has had other pets, a German Short-Haired Pointer named Suzy, several cats, and a Malamute named Mishka. Mishka was stolen (we think) and Suzy was run over when the paper boy took her on his route and tied her to his bike with twine. The twine broke when they were in traffic. Dope. Anyway, that was a long time ago. Do paper boys even exist anymore?

Sincerely,

Had a chihuahua (I always think of Les-WKRP when I write that word!) once named Shannon. No, not named after the Henry Gross song. A fat black cat named Luvs has just recently departed my life and a fat tabby named Bug now resides at my house.

Two cats, Hector & Cleo. My youngest used to have a hampster, Lord Fuzy. Note the "used to" and the previous mention of "two cats."

sigh....

I come from a cat family and have always had a cat in the house. My absolute favorite was a bad ass named "Pooh" (Not his fault, his brother was a tabby named Tigger, so, he got stuck with "Pooh") This cat truely hated dogs. I have seen him look out the window, go to the door, meow to go out. Then saunter across the street the slap the neighbor's golden who had the nerve to be sunning itself in its own yard. This was at age 15. Funny cat who grew into an even funnier old cat. Like a grumpy old man most of the time.

Pooh was a very neat cat. And he did "own" his neighborhood. Have to admit Cleo and Hector are great comic relief.

Had five cats at one time way back when. Couldn't really think of any cool names so just gave them adjectives as names. There was "Boy," "Tiny," "Pretty," "Fidget," and "Scared."

Neat! I've known 2 people that named their cats "Grey kitty" for the obvious reason.

When I was about 5 years old, we had a dog (long haired mutt) called Pickles. Parents loved him because to find me, they just had to find the dog. He got his name from a certain brand name with 57 varieties.

Well, I came home yesterday and my youngest jumps up and yells "Daddy, do you want to see Fuzy II?"

Yep, aparently the cats have convinced my wife that the last hamster's untimely death was a mere misunderstanding and will not happen again. All evening long I was trying to get Hector to say "Hamsters are friends, not food!"

sigh

Remember the hampsterdance.com? See if Hector does? And I bet he smiles when you mention it.

Hi Folks,

My new lady friend has two dogs, three cats and a cockatiel. It's a veritable zoo at her house. Problem is, one of her dogs, Teddy, is extremely jealous of her second dog, Molly, and will attack her viciously. Any dog lovers have suggestions on how to solve this? Some $600 has already been spent on obedience training; that obviously has not worked.

Sincerely,
