Last years champs showed their true form as the Typhoon led by the Yingling express, roared into Morristown and swept the home team 4 games straight Friday and Saturday.
Friday April 1
Game 1) Typhoon 10 - Minutemen 2
Game 2) Typhoon 7 - Minutemen 4
Sat. April 2
Game 1) Typhoon 8 Minutemen 1
Game 2) Typhoon 3 Minutemen 0
The Yinglings combined for well over 20 points over the weekend.
The first two games exposed the weakness of the Minutemen's defence forcing multiple giveaways and weak passes from the defensive zone, many which resulted in quick goals. The difference in physical size/strength was in evidence as repeatedly the Typhoon came away with the puck from the one on one battles.
During Saturday's game, the Minutemen were only able to field 5 regulars, and one player from the minors, and that only about halfway through the first period which the Minutement started with only four. About halfway through the first 2 more players showed up giving the minutemen six. During the second game one of the Minutemen recieved a major and a game misconduct, which reduced their number to only 5 for the second half of the game. Given that manpower differential, hats off to the efforts of those 5 players and their goalie, for keeping the game that close......There was never much doubt about the outcome however as the Typhoon controlled the play for the majority of the game...
