The Stars and Stripes Divisions of the National Championships are reserved for teams registered with USA Hockey InLine-sanctioned programs as exclusive benefits of membership.
USA Hockey InLine has expanded the All-Girls' divisions to include 10-and-Under, 12-and-Under, 14-and-Under, 16-and-Under and 19-and-Under. Girls' teams can enter directly into the National Championships.
The Varsity and Junior Varsity High School Club Divisions will be returning to the 2005 USA Hockey InLine National Championships. The High School Varsity and Junior Varsity Club Divisions will be comprised of teams from various high school leagues throughout the country. A Middle School Division will also be offered for the first time ever in an effort to increase the exposure and awareness of developing middle school inline hockey teams.
In addition, as part of the USA Hockey InLine partnership with the National Collegiate Roller Hockey Association (NCRHA), the 2005 National Championships will feature a Collegiate Division. The NCRHA will assist with the selection and registration of collegiate teams.
The USA Hockey InLine National Championships will also offer competition in the USA Open Divisions. All tournament-caliber travel teams are invited to participate in the USA Open Divisions without the requirement of representing a USA Hockey InLine-sanctioned program or being a prior member of USA Hockey InLine. The USA Open Divisions will offer competition in the 8-and-Under, 10-and-Under, 12-and-Under, 14-and-Under, 16-and-Under and 18-and-Under age categories. These divisions provide direct entry into the event and are open to all teams.
"With all of the additions and enhancements, the 2005 USA Hockey InLine National Championships will be our best so far," said Gary Del Vecchio, director of USA Hockey InLine (Colorado Springs, Colo.). "The foundation for success now and in the future has been set."
USA Hockey InLine will once again utilize a block schedule in order to accommodate additional teams in each division. As a result, certain age divisions will be grouped together to play over a four or five-day period instead of being required to be in attendance for the duration of the event.
The USA Hockey InLine National Championships are part of a nationwide playoff system intended to give additional high-level playing opportunities to USA Hockey InLine's grassroots membership.
"Flyers Skate Zone is extremely proud and excited to be the host of this prestigious event!" said Pat Ferrill, Comcast-Spectacor Vice President of Rink Management and Development (Voorhees, N.J.). "We look forward to working with USA Hockey InLine to ensure that their National Championships are an awesome experience for all the participants and that everyone leaves with lifelong memories."
The 2005 USA Hockey InLine National Championships will feature the annual Easton Skills Challenge. Each team participating in the USA Hockey InLine National Championships may enter one skater and one goaltender to participate in the Easton Skills Challenge.
Awards will be presented to all first- and second-place teams and an all-tournament team will be selected in each division. In addition, a Team Sportsmanship Award will be given in each age division. The tournament format will feature a four-game guarantee for every team in each age division. Games will consist of two 12-minute stop-time halves.
