ESPN announced tonight that the two sides have reached agreement in the NHL dispute....they did not go so far as to guarantee there would still be a short season, but that is anticipated....

Meanwhile I am breaking the some frozen crow out of the ice box....there goes my "Superleague"..../wtimages/icons/frown.gif/wtimages/icons/wink.gif

I don't care, I'm making up a batch of "EHL - Earth Hockey League" T-shirts anyway...and I'm looking forward to getting all the Sydney Saurapods' trading cards...

Hey given today's ambiguous news, I an feeling a bit better about my theory...although my stomach is still upset from all that crow I ate last night....I truly think there is a "cabal" of the wealthier owners who have something else in mind other than a slightly revised edition of what was already in place.

Whether that included a true "Earth Hockey League" vision(we could hope), or simply a complete breaking down of the union as it existed, I think we are seeing a major power play going on inside both the Owners Association and the Union..with he older wealthier owners opposed to the mutiny of the "have nots' headed by Gretzky and Lemieux, and the younger poorer players revolting against the older wealthier vets.

After tonights (sat) news i just feel sick. The media hyped this to be it. Everyone said that it was all but done, then nothing... This is becoming more of a nightmare than I could have ever imagined. I think, had somewhat put 10 chimps in a room with type-writers 7 months ago, we would have had more progress than what these idiots have accomplished. Good job Goodenow! As if you ever had any leverage!

What's that saying, "sometimes less is more". Only if these greedy f**** could understand that. The NHL now has a shot at losing there ESPN deal. There doomed !!

ESPN isn't going to drop the NHL, period. The fact that ESPN actually made an NHL video game explains how solid their partnership with the NHL really is.

If it isn't bringing in ratings, they will drop it in a second. Texas hold'em brings in better ratings then hockey games. The Westminster Dog Show that aired last week brought in higher ratings than last years Stanley Cup finals. Hockey is in deep trouble !!!
