Being that the hockey team formed last year fell apart here at Iowa State, I am taking it upon myself to restart the club. The university will sponsor the team to an extent, hopefully enough to cover some travel expenses and jerseys, and I have found significant interest in an intercollegiate team from students. I have previous experience playing in the MCRHL, but never before running/managing a hockey team. Does anyone have any tips, pointers, etc. to help me do this right?

One big concern of mine is playing surface. Currently, the only inline surface withing 45 minutes of school are tennis courts, and about half of the people interested are former ice hockey players that now play a lot of inline(the other half have AIRHS, NARCh, or CRHL experience). Any ideas on how to prepare them for icecourt and sport court?

Thanks for anything at all that you can think of,

The first thing we did was get a treasurer(me) and appoint positions, such as equipment manager, sponser seekers, etc. Also, I would make sure everyone has some money, cause most schools (ours included) give you whatever all the other clubs get. I would just make sure your guys have sport court wheels. There's not much more you can do. Hope I helped.

Besides assigning positions in the club make sure you get people dedicated and not just having your freinds on the team holding club positions, or surely you will have problems if some one is not doing their assigned duties and players will blame you for your friends failure. To get you guys ready for Ice court make sure everyone purchases some wheels designed for it. Ice court takes Very soft wheels like 72-74A I would see if on an off weekend you could find a place that is with in a hr and a half drive on a weekend and schedual a 2 hr practice at the facility and take some of the money form your players and fund that is givin to you from your club by the University this would be a wise investment the smartest thing to do is find out pick up game times and schedual the practice right before pick up to practice real game time situation and getting used to everyone on your team. I hope I helped out a little
