Damnit, I want to handle the puck!:) I've had a really hard time doing this with IDS outdoor puck. It just keeps flipping and turning. Is it my technique? Is there an online hockey tutor that will learn me how to handle the puck?

Hockey Rules!

Thanks

Sorry to say... but.. being outdoors.. it's difficult to handle a bouncing, spinning, hopping puck....get the guys to pitch in and have the concrete ground down smooth... shouldn't cost too much if ya'll pool up your money... it would be a world of difference.... besides that.. it will take A TON OF PRACTICE to learn stick handling....at home... take a piece of tempered board... throw your puck on it.. sit in front of the TV watching your favorite hockey reruns..(espn classics!)...and don't look down and feel the puck...keep going back and forth for a good 10 minutes without looking down... change up and go up and back for 10 minutes.. and so on and so on... even use a "heavy puck" to get some strength too.. hope this helps.. j-bo

J-bo,

Damn, I like the idea of practicing while watching TV!
Say, is ESPN Classic a seperate channel? I really wanted to see the Gordie Howe special but it was never on espn:P I guess I dont get this channel

The IDS isnt made for outdoor use...its an indoor puck. Using it on a tennis court sucks, while on sport court its beautiful. Thats probably 90% of your problem. Wood floor works fine too...same with like the concrete in a basement. Try doing it some place smooth and see if that helps.

Also, if that doesnt make a difference, check to make sure that you arent chopping the puck...hitting it with the bottom of the blade when your coming down on the other side of the puck. That will definitely lead to some control problems!

Chloro,

Damn, that would explain the wear on the pegs:P Shucks...o'well, maybe I will find some better rinks in seattle. THe concrete in the rink here is consistant with that of a tennis court. Smooth but not smooth like an outdoors, polished basketball court

You might want to get the millenium propuck. It is excellent for outdoor use andshould make it alittle easier to handle the puck,

Headhunter,

Im going to give this puck a shot (no pun intended)! I like the design and their webpage (propuck.com) has some nice CAD images with analysis. Thanks!

Hi Reaper_Rider,

The suggestions you've been given already should be very helpful. Practice, practice and practice some more. Wishing doesn't work, I've found :)

And I had to answer your post, if only to have "handling" spelled correctly; it was driving me "nutz." :)

Sincerely,

i use a golf ball outside, not a puck to develop my hands, and the tv idea is pretty good, maybe if you combine the two you'd have a hit. just don't break the tv
