All,

I love my Yzerman ABS blade...but after 3 practices the heal is pretty much worn out! Boy, these blades wear out QUICK. Im playing in an outdoor inline rink (smooth concrete) and I just can't believe I've already gone through (well, not entirely yet) a blade! Maybe Im practicing too much?;-) Welp, I love me the hell out of some hockey...slapshots are mega fun!
I was wondering if any of you out there have tried both Easton ABS and Mission blades? Do Mission's last longer?
Also, I've heard the mission "red" has the Yzerman pattern or whatever. I would probably like to try other famous patterns, how do I go about chossing a Sakic pattern with Mission blades?

Thanks!

i don't really know about the either of the blades but i used to have the same problem with blades wearing down too quickly. recently i have taped up my stick with the hockey tape after every 5 or so games or training.

Love my Mission red blade...I play on polished concrete indoors...i triple tape the heel and bottom of the blade with one wrap over the whole blade... no problems yet.. i change the tape after 2 games....I have used this for about 4 months now... I went through about 6 sticks before I finally wised up and got one of these puppies..
I won't use anything but the mission red blade.. just a great blade for ME... j-bo

I wasn't aware that taping a blade on concrete was practical!
I suppose I should try this next time.
Wait a minute now, where's the answer to all my other questions?:P Im glad you all love your red blades but I had questions dang it!;-)

THanks

What questions? get the red mission blade and you're done :)

I re read your post and see that you play on smooth concrete... just how "smooth" is it? If it is ground down smooth... then you shouldn't have a problem with the puck bouncing and flipping....then THAT would be YOUR doing, not the pucks...

We can't do all the work for you, research yourself eh? look up. www.missionrh.com and see about gettin a SAKIC blade....but.. the red blade is just great....j-bo

J-bo,

My basic question was about Mission's patterns and how they are catalogued. I've checked out their page and all the info I see is "this is red curve, this is yellow curve" I just wanted to know more about their curves. I guess I have to wait another 3 weeks to get their catalogue:P

About the playing surface I have no questions about that:) Hell its concrete I can see that. Yes, its a smotth surface but its not polished thats for sure. I was just surprised that the ABS got worn out so fast.

Peace

OK. The Yzerman pattern is a 9/16" mid curve 6.2 lie...the Sakic is a 1/2" mid curve. The Mission Red is identical to the Yzerman. The Blue is virtually the same, but with an open face, which will tend to lift the puck more. It also has a lower lie(5.8)....if you tend to wear out the heel of the stick more than the toe, you want a lower lie stick. The Yellow is a 5/8 mid curve...even more curved that the other two. It has a 6 Lie.

In terms of lasting, i dont know about that. The PRT WILL last longer than a traditional wooden blade, as its got the cast-ABS edge to it. Itll also be much stiffer than ABS, which is notorious for its flex.
