I am new to this message board but I have been around NARCh for 6-7 years now.

I was wondering what was the opinion of RENO?

My opinion was I could not believe that my sons team had to pay $800 to play in one of the dirtiest & slowest rinks I have ever seen. Our house league roller rink was better in my opinion?

I have heard numerous complaints about the lack of effort to host a NARCh nationals at a great location. But I will say, Florida this year should be great because the old TEco was awesome when we went a few years back.

What does everyone think!!!

This is not intended as a bashing, just an opinion post please.

I have not heard anything about the Reno facility, but anyone interested in a new, clean facility should check out Hot Shots Indoor Sports Arena in Mt. Pleasant, PA. (2) pads, ice court exxcess and a friendly staff. www.hotshotsarena.com

My son played there too and made no comments about the floor or the conditions, however I was not there. Wasn't this a completly new facility with twin rinks set up just for the Narch Tournament?

Wasn't this held in the Reno Event Center which just opened around Christmas?

Hello Sam,
I too was in Reno for NARCh. The new facillity wasn't the greatest but the boys did play hockey against some great teams. This is what we were looking for. The boards were slanted back and wavey like being held down by water barriers. From what I understand NARCh was told that they would be able to anchor the rinks down. This is usually done by drilling the floor to bolt the boards down. When they got there to put the boards up they were told that they were not allowed to drill the floor. BIG problem. Just before they were to begin Mr. NARCh himself leaned on a set of boards and they went crashing down breaking some glass. They were scrambling to replace glass and also make it playable for the event. The floor cleaner was in a closet just ouside the rink and when it snowed it was burried. They finally got the thing out after many days of being burried. I did see many pushing the dust mops to try to clean up the surface. The games were pretty much on time or early. Now getting past the imperfections in the rink I will say that we saw some good hockey at the Winter Nationals and at least our boys had a good time up until trying to leave Reno. We were basically strandid there because they canceled our flights. Spent about 24 hours trying to get us out or Reno. But this was bearable once the boys got past the Championship game and won their gold medals. They seemed not to mind sticking around the extra day.
I've been to TICO a few times for roller and a few times for ice. For roller I was there once for AIRHS and then for NARCh. The Germain (spelling) center has always been a great place to play. The people take care of the facility and care about what is going on at the rink. The food is decent too. If you want to shop you can and if you want to chase the BIKINI's you can do that too. Lots to do there. Looking forward to Summer 2005!

Wanted to say Congrats to the ISCA Grizzlies and also the Deptford Jaguar Girls for their Gold medal wins. Just think there were 3 gold medal teams that came from our area. The ISAC Grizzlies in the Midget division, The Deptford Jaguars in the Womans division and our Nike Team Breakaway 89's in the Bantam division. Almost one after the other game wise. Was nice to see the players rally and support eachother.
