I thought Feasterville wasn't having check hockey. Is the press release dated Dec 18 right on the main IHC page wrong? Once again someone doesn't have things straight.
I think the orignial time was booked as a practice session, and then after it became a game...I believe that will end up being the only game played there. I called and asked the same questions. But then again stay tuned.....I may be creating more confusion than I am clarifying.....only the Shadow knows for sure....

Since my team was playing the Rage, I talk to F-ville and they said that yes, it was a practice at first but that they would allow this one game only. It is on Monday, Jan 17 @ 2 PM. See you all there!

It is a one game deal for the Rage. Like I have said before we are not having check style hockey in our building. Our building have been lead to believe slightly different things but it is a one game exhibition. We had to make a choice and either have the tournament with a game or not have it at all. A business decision was made to deal with it for one game. Any other questions regarding the Sportsplex please direct them to me. The only pro hockey that will have a home at the Sportsplex is PIHA with Tour Growl continuing into their third year out of our facility.

Isn't TORHS pro also being played in a tournament? They check, don't they? I've heard them say it's almost like XIHL now.

I played in the most recent TORHS tournament at the Sportsplex in late Winter/early Spring of 2004. In the games I played with Rink Rat, I have to say the biggest hit I took was when I fell into the boards after tripping over my own feet.
Yes, there are some high contact games (ie. Snipers vs * ) but having played many of the pro-style leagues, I wouldn't say that TORHS is a high contact tournament for the most part.
Plus, you have to consider that with TORHS the rink is making money over the weekend with fans/players/parents, versus just hosting one 2-hour, full contact semi-pro game that is not pulling a whole lot of money.

A bit confused in the money vs hits part of your post. One 2 hr game compared to 10 TORHS pro games (don't know the times) should be about equal. I've never been charged to watch a TORHS competition. Didn't Davidson get the eye injury during TORHS? I saw some slides at the TORHS in Williamsburg of the previous year's games and there was some hitting especially at the boards. Just hope all is well for both players and rink when all is said and done.

The Torhs contact is not as damaging as constant day by day contact with a team practicing and playing games 2-3 times a week. I have made our statement from our building. They have a one day use of our facility and that is all. Sorry to sound so moody it is just a rough time of year for us folk who run a rink. Everybody wants to play all next week and we never get to many days off.

I understand. If the boards can't take it then it's not safe for the players or fans standing to watch. Hope a day off comes soon. I remember the local rink being open on Christmas night and my mom being really mad about it when my sons wanted to go skating instead of hanging with the family. The rink owner explained "where else are the kids going to try out their new skates".

That is basically it...Our rink is constantly open and will be open all next week running tournaments for soccer...The boards can take the impact its just after constant amounts the frames on the doors have started to bend and they are extremely expensive to replace. AKA the cost for a team to rent the rink for a whole season of home games is equivalent the cost to just replace 2 doors.

JD Davidson's injury was at NARCh PRO in Vegas. TORHS rents Feasterville for the Winter Games which include the Pro Series. Hard to turn down a weekend rental that will bring in the revenues to snack bar, proshop, rink rentals as well as local establishments.
