Moving to So Cal

I'm moving to Placentia in the next couple of months. I'm looking for a new place to play. I found links for the Anaheim hockey club and for Inline Sports In Corona. Anaheim still seems to be active, is Inline sports still around? The inline sports website lists the last update as having taken place in 1997.

Anyone played at these facilities? Can you tell me what the different league levels are like, competition wise etc.?

Hi Jamy,

I've been to both the Anaheim Hockey Club and Inline Sports, and my understanding is that both are still in operation, with Ken Murchison running the AHC. I could be wrong about Inline Sports; no one has told me that they've closed down, however.

I'm sure some of IHC's readers will be able to tell you about their playing experiences at these two facilities.

Both are still open. Inline Sports Center in Corona is run by Kevin Davison. The WCRHL hosted a tournament there in September 2004.

Yes, both Anaheim and Corona (951-371-7500) are up and running. Both rinks start their new league after the holidays. I'm right next door in Brea, and, depending on how far you want to travel - there's also hockey in West Covina, Upland, a couple of rinks in Huntington Beach, Irvine... what level of play are you looking for?

I currently play in D and E leagues at the rink in Columbus, OH. The leagues here are B thourgh E, with E being the lowest.
The Ohio State hockey players play in B and C. I would say I am an intermediate player. Not a beginner, but not good enough to compete with Ohio State players either.

Anaheim lists their leagues as from gold all the way to tin can, with tin can being complete beginners that can barely skate.. As such, I don't really have an idea of where to start.

As soon as you get here, go check out a couple league games at Anaheim. Then you can see what the skill level is and try and get on a team the following season.

Welcome to the neighborhood, I live in Placentia as well. I've played at both, and I prefer Anaheim. The rinks are bigger, and the facilites are just nicer. My only gripe about both of them is their 'pro shop' is never open.

As for league, tin can, is just that, real beginners. Aluminum and bronze are more novice players. Been playing a while, but not real good. Plenty of ringers in both though, so be aware. As stated above, best to go see a game and see where you fit in. It has pretty much degenerated to "what day of the week do you want to play?"
