THIS IS THE FIRST OF MANY ANNOUNCEMENTS THAT WILL BE MADE TO PROSPECTIVE 2004-2005 PLAYERS FOR THE PHILADELPHIA STING
**PLEASE NOTE BELOW - first skate is scheduled for THIS SUNDAY**
Over the summer, I acquired the Sting franchise, in its entirety from Joe Verna. Mr. Verna diligently ran the Sting for the past 3 seasons, and I would personally like to thank him for the time and effort he put forth. It is my intention to run the Sting as professionally as possible.
Since I acquired the team, I have been staying in touch with the founders of the new XIHL, and planning for the upcoming inaugural season. I have confidence that the new league will be stronger than its predecessor. The 3 key individuals all have a track record of success in our sport. You may register for XIHL announcements at www.xihl.com
The Sting will participate in the XIHL (Xtreme Inline Hockey League) this coming FALL, along with most of the MLRH teams from last year, along with some new members. It will be a full contact league, and teams will compete in a series of "festivals" on weekends throughout the fall, rather than a set schedule of games. Each weekend festival that the Sting participates in would include the Sting playing 2 XIHL games.
The Sting will be based primarily at the Family Fun Spot (FFS) in Aston, PA. More information about the facility (including directions) is available at www.funspothockey.com. Once the team is selected (all roster spots are open) and training camp completed, there will be one mandatory practice each week. Practice will be a prime time rink slot.
Below is the schedule for upcoming workouts, tryouts, and training camp (PLEASE NOTE THE FIRST WORKOUT IS THIS SUNDAY):
SUNDAY, 082904 11 AM to 1 PM - WORKOUT/PRACTICE #1 FFS Aston, PA
SATURDAY, 091104 4 PM to 6 PM - WORKOUT/PRACTICE # 2 FFS Aston, PA
**Workout/practice sessions are optional, but highly recommended. Cost for each workout will be $10 per player, due prior to going on the floor**

THURSDAY 092304 7 PM to 8:30 PM - TRYOUT #2 FFS, Aston, PA
SUNDAY 092604 11 AM to 1 PM - PRACTICE #1/TRYOUT #3 FFS, Aston, PA
** The cost for attending tryouts will be $40 and will include an XIHL tryout jersey. Upon completion of tryouts a training camp roster will be selected**
