If you click on league news it does go to a page that has teams from last season in a drop down box, but no news for the upcoming season.

For starters, both the PIHA and the MLRH websites are rinkie dinkie. Now I am sure that the leagues do not make allot of money to be able to have a nice website, but come on, you need to at the very least updated it.
Then you have the IHA who has yet to have one season under their belt, teasing in the IHC boards about the "New Future".
What gives? Is there a upcoming league or what?

YES. Sounds like a safe answer....When there is something to say and any questions that may be asked can be answered then I'm sure it will hit here first. Rumors and 2 lines of info are not the way to go and I want to see all the info that can be put in print on the first announcement. So for right now patience is the word. Wish I could help but I'm waiting too.

I expect to much I guess. All three leagues have a website and they should realize that the web is 24/7 news and information.
They must have a one man staff, right Benny?

I have the feeling that if some type of merger goes down, the new league site will be pretty good - just a hunch :)

The websites now are pretty good. I'm personally am not that picky about how flashy it is. Just having a frequently updated website would be nice. There might not be new stuff to post on there every day of the week, but keeping the teams and players informed with any updates or news is a good thing. Right now its all done through here, and you can't consider a message board "official".

You figure that with 10 or more teams there is something to report, then again the only a few teams update their website as well.

I heard a scoop that there is a new league that will be forming. More of a AAA league rather than pro. The old style of owners is gone too, from what I hear. They are hitting the rinks up to have them set up teams instead of so called owners.
Is this true? can anyone confirm?

If you don't like the way things are in "this" league or "that" league either 1) get involved 2) start you own thing so somebody else can crtique it 3)Go outside and practice the Michigan Move until something has materialized to your liking.
cyclonewinger
07-29-2004, 08:48 AM
get involved with what? are you offering me a job? do the leagues pay?
I highly doubt it on either..
Better yet get your own message board and you can ban people from it and decide what you want to see.

How about no? Making comments about how the league is run is the only way to make it better and furthermore, the players ARE what makes this league work. So...1) The people who run the league have made it a priority (atleast they should have) and it is their responsibility to see it through or have the league fold. It was their creation. 2) The players show up, cover expenses (for most teams) and make time in their schedules to practice and play. Again they are the reason the league continues to exist so they have every right to critique it. 3) The Michigan Move is so 8 years ago.

Only if there were enough teams in the 3-4 hour travel time to make a division. Please keep in mind that to be a MLRH team there are league fees and a letter of credit with the bank, etc. that have to be satisfied before the team can be part of MLRH. You can't just dress a team and be part of the league anymore. The Bulldogs website is a real kick.

The bulldogs website is hilarious. I never ever ever heard of a Men's House league keeping stats or even having a website. I hope they come into the MLRH because it will be fun humiliating them.
NLane
07-30-2004, 09:29 AM
Check out chilledponds.com. They have 3 levels of men's league and they have stats for all 3. Ice just started doing that in our area but inline has done it for several years. Not everyone can play at tournament level so it helps to do things like stats to keep "the average Joe" coming back to PAY for every league. Remember, you do what it takes to keep the dollars rolling in not just for 1 league but all year long.

The website looks better than most of the Inline Pro Websites and leagues. Not only that, but it looks like they update it, unlike the Inline Pro League or teams.
These guys are an ice team, how's it possible that these guys are suppose to play in the MLRH?
NLane
07-30-2004, 09:49 AM
They went to ice because they wanted to play now, not in a few months. My son plays both. Look at the background for the IIHF team. Mostly ice hockey but they won a Gold medal in an international inline event. I think some players can manage both.

Yeah it is a nice site......Hey for house league web sites, it's really not bad at all....That site's for mainly there guys to follow there progress and give themselves a little professionalism, to show their friends family, etc....you guys know this....

Well, I find it Extremely funny how someone can just put a team in the MLRH without any investigation. I guess you just have to have money. Those guys are house leaguers and would get torn up in the MLRH.
cyclonewinger
07-30-2004, 02:20 PM
Yes, I think so as well, give the guys credit, they are not claiming to be anything, but a house league and again they at least are having fun.

I am sorry to say that the players do NOT make the league. Of course, having dedicated players important, but I am pretty sure that if you or anybody else decided not to play, wouldn't cause any of the leagues to cease to exist. This goes for any league, including NHL, MLB, NFL, etc.
I know that people do commit to a team and that is surely needed and appreciated by their respective owners and coaches. But let's not get crazy. I am pretty sure 99% of the people that play in these leagues also play in house leagues of all sorts that they pay to play in. If playing against great competition (usually for free), , having fun, and drinking some beers is too much of a commitment for people then go back to Adult "c" on Thursdays where I am sure you display your 8 years of Michigan mastery.
What you call critiquing is no more than whining and complaining. If your true intent was to help change the league, then I am sure you have already contacted league officials with your ideas. Hence, my statement of get involved.
my two pennies...

The players don't make the league!?! Your kidding right??? Lets start this as a new thread and get more opinions then. Your mentality of players being replaceable is not the answer to a situation where people are just voicing their thoughts. If anything the players that "replace" the ones that critique are just going to voice their own opinions eventually. That is what this forum is for. You can't keep telling them to take a hike till you field teams of mindless zombies who accept the way things are.
My main argument was about the websites being updated frequently, not much else. Thats not asking a lot. There ARE people involved in the league, and they are hopefully making it better (for the next season) as we speak. How about instead of automatically taking a defensive stance for the league, you comment on whats good and let the players play, not manage. Of course if you insist on being stubborn about comments you call "whining and complaining" then perhaps the best solution is a players association that represents the collective opinions of all the players. After all this is touted as a "professional league". Try and look at the bigger picture next time.

First, I was not just responding to you and actually most was not even directed at you at all.
Anyway, players certainly do not make the league. Is there a shortage of "pro" inline players, at least ones that think they are "pro"? You know the same ones that don't show for practices or away games (road flu.) You can ask anyone that runs a team whether or not they think the players make the league. The zombies, as you put it, are the guys that do show up to everything and play sparingly. They don't complain for the most part.
Of course there are some things that could be done better. Yes, websites should be updated. But people need to support the league(s) through involvement. How many games have you ever been to. I know people who would die for return to a RHI style league, but many of these people never even attended the games when they were played. How do people expect leagues to survive??? IMHO, people would rather complain about them. When the RHI was around people were all caught up in how "ice" guys got to play or ticket sales were inflated, or that ramps were gay. Well, now we can complain about what we have now...a couple of leagues struggling to make it with an almost $0 budget...but hey the refs suck, the websites are out of date, etc.
If the players, you know the ones that should get this free and that free, who make a practice or 2, who are professional, you know showing up to games in cut off shorts and a dirty t-shirt are what makes the league in your mind, I cannot argue that, but my perspective is a tad different.
Again:
1- All players are not like the aforementioned, but a hell of a lot are.
2- criticism is good as long as it can be applied in a useful manner.
3- These comments are not directed at solely 1 or 2 people, but at anyone that is quick to tear down what we do have.
Again- Get involved!

Don't know when the league will start. I still feel that the shoe hasn't dropped yet. The MLRH site hasn't answered many questions.....makes me wonder, as in A.I.'s case, if they aren't the answer either.
