I was just watching some TV and came across a Cannon Videocamera Commercial featuring an outdoor inline hockey game. It wasn't street hockey either, it was in a rink with a puck and was pretty realistic. The one thing I did notice was everyone was wearing plastic recreational skates. I was just wondering how people think this type of advertising effects the sport?

Well if it helps get parents interested in having their kids play at an inexpensive entry level, I think it's great for the sport. Too many parents are turned off when their kids try to step from the outdoor rec league to the tournament series...., so getting more kids playing at a rec level will help rebuild the foundations of the sport.

I'm with you MDE. If it's inlines and a puck I'll take any recognition for the sport. No ramps, no ball (it does have it's place and REC is it), and no short pants. Left all that years ago. But, have to admit, it was fun watching those "sissy sticks" flex with a slap shot and the ball curve AWAY from a goalie's glove.

Its actually a really cute commerical. The teams are wearing generic uniforms with no sponsors - a team called "Sharks" and it highlights a female player which is a big plus. But notice the amount of checking for kids??
It appears to be like a recreational outside rink. It seems in good shape too from what you can see. I recorded the commercial and will look closer.
