I'm looking to buy my first pair of inline skates. Ive worn bauer ice hockey skates for 20 years. I want something high end yet cheap. Right now im looking at the 1999 mission vsi with the old style 7000 aluminum hockey research chasis for around 100$-new, or the 2003 mission D2 with the 6000 chassis for around. 150$-new. I like the look of the older traditional style boot , and vsi's are really stiff (7-5). I also hear that mission has gone way downhill since they strayed from the traditional looking boot, and that the older chunky chassis are more sturdy. Does anyone have any insights/suggestions? -thanks
If you can still find them in your size at Hockey Giant, you might want to try the Nexed Stingers with the 2 degree chassis(HiLo). Good quality skate (was their top end skate) and they were selling for ridiculously low prices.
Go for the older missions. I have the 2000 VSI
for 4 years. I've bent one frame once, mission
changed it. Otherwise they are built to last,
even if the boots softens up with time.
I guess the 1999 are as good.
The d1c or d1 frames are as good as older frames.
But the newer boot really seem to be crappy. Made
with cheap materials and soft, not stiff.
