I am on an adult rec team and some of the guys would like to get this local bar to sponsor us. The bar is about 2 miles from the rink untill the rink moves. What is a good way to ask the manager to sponsor a roller hockey team. A few of the guys go there after games to eat.

you need to let them know that you will be an advertisement and a worthwhile advertisement at that...if it's a bar most are usually pretty happy to help

Hi John,
I have had recent success doing this. I advise that you first become a regular customer at the bar in question, and make sure that several (if not all) of your teammates do the same.
Then, make sure to promise only what you can deliver. If you know that only three of your teammates are likely to visit the bar, don't say that the entire team will hang out there consistently, etc.
Let the bar owner know that you will promote his establishment to as many people as possible, whether that is through your team's Web site, wearing your team jerseys at the college you attend, etc.
Make one extra jersey for the bar owner with his name and # 1 on the back, and give it to him to hang up at the bar.
Use your imagination. Figure out ways to make the sponsorship valuable for the bar owner. Otherwise, he won't see any return, and he won't sponsor your team for a second season.
Good luck!
Sincerely,

Richard, thanks for the advice. I will talk to the guys on my team and see if they are willing to go get the sponsor.
