Any thoughts on MLRH's midwestern expansion push?

Why not? There are other teams out there that want to play the offsides and hitting type of game. It's just the financial thing that keeps it from happening. It's expensive to have a MLRH team and backers in this type of economy are not just waiting in the wings to throw money at inline teams. MLRH has been thru so much that they can now inform interested parties as to how much time and money it takes to do it correctly. The website has much improved with updates and posting the scores/stats and the teams have been very professional in show and action this year. I also want to say to the teams toward the bottom of the standings thank you for continuing to play as professional athletes to finish out the season. Most of the names that started the season are also ending the season and I applaud all of you. I look forward to a continued growth of MLRH (but I really don't look forward to playing against Derek Desjardin!) and hope next season is even better.

Just curious, why don't you want to play against Derek Desjardin?

Because I HATE cheering against a player (as I don't play) that has been on a team that I've cheered for in the past. And he just racks up those PIMs!!

The bulldogs are going to get murdered in this league. I went to the Tryout and wow......good luck fellas!

Was that a serious comment, or one intended to just pacify the other teams? I take it you made the team?

I can make my own assumptions, however I would much rather hear from those directly involved..at least the other side of the story.....

me neither... then again perhaps only you , me, mr yoder, and the folks at speed hockey may understand.

Alex,
Nice low blow, however, if you look on the date of that email it would probably say something around NOVEMBER of 2003. I had just heard that you saw our team and wanted us on the team. I am out of the loop on all of this stuff, but I have heard stories from my friends/teammates about your Management tactics. Like dropping our team from your plans without even telling us. As far as "Not making any of your tryouts," I was there and it was a joke. You guys will have trouble beating a Midget Team, let alone a team that Yoder or any other superstars play on. I wish you guys the best of luck and feel sorry for your players!

Sincerely,
Kurt Wampach

Why would anyone not involved with this organization in any way, or the player in question, have the least idea of what was going on?

Sometimes that's the problem with cryptic cheap shots....it makes others curious not only about the implied events, but also about the character of those who issue them.

Heres the deal........we were told that we were the second team in the Chicagoland area, funded by Alex (BulldogGM). Our PR/Manager called the league and found out that the deposit for our team had not been made, when Alex said it had. After he told us that we were being retracted from the league, our Manager called the PIHA and found out that he never even told them as well. Bottom line is that he lied to us and misinformed us about everything. Luckily we are still going to participate at the Pro Level that we all hoped for. As far as their team goes, well.......I will let you fans of the MLRH figure them out for yourself.

No wonder I was confused....so you guys are going to participate in PIHA, as the Chicago Bulldogs, and the other team in question mentioned above will compete in MLRH also as the Chicago Bulldogs?

Without trying to appear snarky about any of this....and I do know what it is to feel agreaved about an issue....it might be better for all concerned to just stick to the superficial facts, and take the dirty laundry to the "cleaners" where it can be dealt with properly.

I have stepped over the line myself in here on a few occasions and it never did any good. But I understand why you might want to "air" things out when situations like this arise.

(easy to get on my high horse after I pushed for the answers...sorry about that)

Yeah, you can't take the high horse and then claim the low road, you know....

This is an extremely accurate account of what occured. The PIHA is very excited that the Nike Magic have continued their interest in the 2004 season and the Bulldogs team has been filled by Dan Costanza and the Tour Sting. Sorry for the cryptic message, wanted to let the previous poster know that his feelings were justified and appreciated, yet felt no reason to have to smear the bulldogs in the process.

The Team in question will not be competeting as the Bulldogs, but as the Nike Magic. Again, the place of the bulldogs has been taken by the Tour Sting, no major changes to schedule should be expected. Look for changes on website soon. It takes a little while to develop the web with these changes. Sorry for any confusion!

Let's just let this issue die already. What's done is done. Alex though I don't support your actions, I wish you and your squad good luck in MLRH or whatever you eventually make a commitment too. "Kurt" I welcome you and your team into PIHA and along with Mr Yoder we will do everything to develop the midwest area into our league. Looking forward to the season really kicking off this weekend. Good luck to MLRH playoffs this weekend also.

I apologize to Alex and the Bulldogs for saying what I said, but I was just frustrated with the fact that lies were told to us and all I was doing was saying what I thought of the team. I saw the caliber of play and I just don't think it is Pro material, but that is not up to me, so again......I didn't mean to start crap, and good luck. As a member of the Nike Magic, I am excited to see how our team does in the PIHA, unfortunately I will not be playing as much as I had hoped after taking a job in sunny Florida where the hockey is scarce. Regardless, the Magic have come a long way since we started only 2 years ago, and I am glad to say I am apart of it.

Hi SpeedDemon,

I glance at the headlines just to kind of get a flavor for what's moving.

I rarely read the stories, and get briefed by people who are probably read the news themselves.

Just like my president! /wtimages/icons/wink.gif
