Hi Folks,

Sorry for the lack of news updates on the Home Page recently. I've been a bit busy -- I moved to Oregon three days ago. I'm now in McMinnville, about 35 miles southwest of Portland. I'll check out the inline hockey scene in the vicinity soon -- I know that there's nothing happening in McMinnville.

If any Inline Hockey Central fans visit the area, they're welcome to check out my new homestead: Riverside Farm. I'm the farm foreman, and I'm working to help the farm owner create a garden area where we'll grow flowers, vegetables and fruit for a farmer's market that we'll set up in the barn. Yesterday I killed a black widow spider that was in a toolbox that I was cleaning out. Scientists are right when they say that female black widows kill their mates after mating -- all that was left of her former paramour were some legs stuck in a bit of web. Sorta reminds me of the dating scene in Southern California... /wtimages/icons/wink.gif

I hope to get some news updates on site soon -- I've found a cool cyber cafe/pool hall in town with a wireless antenna, so I guess I'll be spending some time here. /wtimages/icons/smile.gif

Sincerely,

Quite the lifestyle change from So-Cal, huh?!? All the best to you, your ankle and your eyes (watch them spiders!) in your new home!

I couldn't do that even back in my hippie days! The outdoor life just isn't for me. Best of it to you, Richard.

Hi Joy,

I lived on a farm in Pennsylvania when I was six and seven. Guess I never got it completely out of my blood. Right now, I'm mainly cleaning up a tool shed and all its tools, so I can make it my working area -- right now, it's a mess, and the goats, geese and peacocks have used it as their bathroom. THAT ain't happenin' no mo! /wtimages/icons/shocked.gif

However, I can't seem to find Paris Hilton anywhere? Didn't she go to work on a farm? /wtimages/icons/wink.gif

Hi NLane,

Fortunately, I only have to do a couple days of work per week on the farm. The rest of the time I look really hard for a new job (ahem), hang out at Planet 8 Ball, and read and write. Tomorrow night I'm driving into Portland to see a Jimi Hendrix tribute concert with guitarists Jerry Cantrell of Alice in Chains, Vernon Reid of Living Colour, and blues king Buddy Guy, all of whom will be backed by Double Trouble, the late-great Stevie Ray Vaughan's backing group. Country life; ain't nothin' like it. /wtimages/icons/smile.gif

Hey Roy,

Thanks. The ankle is healing, and I hope to be playing again in a few weeks. I've already met the news editor of the News-Register newspaper in town, and he is an ice hockey player. Am I living right or what? /wtimages/icons/wink.gif

Could only think about it. Parents not rich enough to support that lifestyle on a full time basis.

I love this, it went from Rich talking about the farm, to the economics that supported hippies (j/k)

That's the beauty of it!
