If you are a relative of someone from York, associated with a Narch team, or friends with someone from Broomall Pa, then you are golden. Other than that, there was a supposed tryout in October in Broomall's arena. Not sure this helps, but the likelyhood of a commoner playing in that league is about the same as me playing for the Mudcats any time soon.

Why was the tryout supposed? It happened and they took what they needed for the exhibition game from who was there. I dont remember his name but someone from the Sting made it. I dont believe he lives in York or plays in Marple. If you would of shown up maybe you would have made it. There will be six teams on each coast and I dont think they have annonced franchises yet. Since each team will be individually owned I dont think that you have to be a Yoder to make it Dave, you just have to impress somebody enough to sign you.

Someone from the Sting?

I have to say I didn't know about it until like the day before or maybe not until afterward. I try to keep up with everything going on too, so I can pretend to be knowledgable.

Hey J,
Do you honestly not agree with some of the points that I made about these teams? As for the tryout, I was in florida when it went on, and probably would not have gone anyway ( after my exhilirating experience with the Mcmanus Firebirds). Politics plays a role in everything, and hockey is no different. If that wasn't the case, then why would I be sitting on the sidelines for this MLRH season? I could be in a birds uniform or with the financially starving sting, but just know things weren't meant to be. When you get a reputation in your name, it is very tough to get away from it. Happy Valentines day boys :)

Dave,

Dont sweat the Mcmanus thing man.... I had a huge problem w/ him in 2001 remember.. since Ive played for 2 other teams (Fairfax VA & Phoenix AZ) and done well more than fine, now I run one of the nicest rinks in the country...move on and keep trying, don't sweat him.... its a much bigger market than just PA and NJ man... keep ya head up kid.

Thanks CS, appreciate the kind words. Nah, it was for the best. Me coming an hour from the burbs wasn't worth it anway, and I think it looks pretty good from this side of the block for me ( losing record?). Congrats on your rink and hope the family is well....

Dave, yes politics play a part in everything but do you honestly believe that people are going to pay this kind of money to own a franchise to let whoever you think is in charge tell them who to take and who not to. Speedhockey is designed by Mr Yoder and the owners of the league, they arent going to tell these franchise how to pick there teams.
If you are being held out of MLRH tell us why? What reputation have you gotten? I would like to know. I dont see how you can just say that if you play out of Marple and or live in York you are in and so on. Here is a good example, why would someone drive from Virginia every weekend to play out of Pottstown? Politics werent against him, the team went on hiatus and he improvised and found a way to play. If you cant play for one team why not tryout for others.

J,
To defend myself of what has happened with me, I will explain. I was released by the sting because I had become out of favor with the owner. It was not a matter of skill and naz, mooers can attest to that. The team is very depleted right now and are not competitive with the likes of Marple, Connecticut and Boston. As for the Firebirds, it was again not a matter of skill. By no means am I better than mr. ward from VA, but there was some people on the roster that left a pretty sour taste in my mouth. I have a personality and some people have issues with what I have to say. I still have respect for both teams as they try and gear up for a playoff run but wanted to key you in on where i am coming from. I look forward to next season and will hopefully latch on somewhere. Get better soon RT......

I agree with yokes there too....I was driving 2 hours in each direction from delaware to VA in 2002.... and 6 hrs in each direction from NM to AZ in 03... you can play for anyone, just a matter of how much youre willing to go through to do so. I just wish there was a team withing driving range of Atlanta now... maybe next season there will be...
