If PIHA is gonna be anything like what the Youth Nike Team Breakaway teams displayed this weekend at The ECHO Tournament at the Feasterville tournament expect a new PIHA Champion in June.
Nike Team Breakaway SWEPT The ECHO Tournament in every age division from 8U too 17U.
8U division basically didn't have any competition for Nike Team Breakaway. They placed 1st. Didn't loose a game and had impressive playing by 2 kids # 99 & # 97 didn't get names. MVP and MVG won by NTB.
12U division again was all NiKe Team Breakaway. The placed 1st with MVG & Mvp going to NTB. ALSO on the front. One of the teams that NTB beat without any question challenged NTB's roster for a player #2 who was big and fast saying that he was too old. NTB provided a birth certificate to shut this teams mouth. What a nurve. This team has a rep of not playing their teams in their own age division but for playing the teams up in division for the challenged. I heard the Coach from NTB was upset because the team that challenged the roster did it after they lost not once asking to challenge the roster before the game or during the game but after the game. NTB's coach was upset because if this was done during the game the other team would of been penalized but done after the game it was a matter of just pride for NTB.
14U also won by NTB They were challanged by a team from the Sportsplex called the Piranhas who had a few of the NTB's players in their line up. Was a clean and hard fought game with NTB winning 7-6 at the end. Up until that game NTB had no competition.
17U Silver again was a dominance by Nike Team Breakaway with their 14U team playing up and winning this division with only allowing one goal against the entire tournament. This team is also the TORHS Winter Cup 2004 Champions. What a group of players. Who know's maybe we will see these guys playing minor's for NTB.
17U Gold division was also won by no other then Nike Team Breakaway. They looked strong and skated like what was expected of a Nike Team Breakaway team. Big strong players with strong game.
Congratulations Nike Team Breakaway with the SWEEP this weekend. Maybe a preview of this year?
