If PIHA is gonna be anything like what the Youth Nike Team Breakaway teams displayed this weekend at The ECHO Tournament at the Feasterville tournament expect a new PIHA Champion in June.
Nike Team Breakaway SWEPT The ECHO Tournament in every age division from 8U too 17U.
8U division basically didn't have any competition for Nike Team Breakaway. They placed 1st. Didn't loose a game and had impressive playing by 2 kids # 99 & # 97 didn't get names. MVP and MVG won by NTB.
12U division again was all NiKe Team Breakaway. The placed 1st with MVG & Mvp going to NTB. ALSO on the front. One of the teams that NTB beat without any question challenged NTB's roster for a player #2 who was big and fast saying that he was too old. NTB provided a birth certificate to shut this teams mouth. What a nurve. This team has a rep of not playing their teams in their own age division but for playing the teams up in division for the challenged. I heard the Coach from NTB was upset because the team that challenged the roster did it after they lost not once asking to challenge the roster before the game or during the game but after the game. NTB's coach was upset because if this was done during the game the other team would of been penalized but done after the game it was a matter of just pride for NTB.
14U also won by NTB They were challanged by a team from the Sportsplex called the Piranhas who had a few of the NTB's players in their line up. Was a clean and hard fought game with NTB winning 7-6 at the end. Up until that game NTB had no competition.
17U Silver again was a dominance by Nike Team Breakaway with their 14U team playing up and winning this division with only allowing one goal against the entire tournament. This team is also the TORHS Winter Cup 2004 Champions. What a group of players. Who know's maybe we will see these guys playing minor's for NTB.
17U Gold division was also won by no other then Nike Team Breakaway. They looked strong and skated like what was expected of a Nike Team Breakaway team. Big strong players with strong game.
Congratulations Nike Team Breakaway with the SWEEP this weekend. Maybe a preview of this year?

Team Breakaway will definitely be a top contender. They have a solid squad and anyone who likes to watch great hockey should definitely plan on seeing some games. Congrats to Pedro on bringing home some serious hardware this weekend.

Yes I too watched as Coach Pedro read the riot act to the tournament people and the idiot coach who questioned the birth certificate. Not only was this uncalled for but they also did this during a game that Pedro should of been on the Bench Coaching. This was a total direspect to a person who follows the rules and probably know's them better then some of the people who were wearing the stripes this weekend. Yes it was serious Hardware for the Nike Team Breakaway Teams but also a big Victory to their Character for Coach Pedro as well to be a stand up guy who travels all over with these teams and has always been a person who people come too for answers and interpretation of rules. He even carries the rule books in his registration book for refferance.
Great job Nike Team Breakaway. Congratulations! Way to go beanie man!

Naz & Yokes we definitely have a Great Squad and I am very pleased with who we have as players as well as the talent level. From age 8U the players who are representing Nike Team Breakaway are players who not only posses good skills but are also competitors who beleive in teamwork.
The 8U team not only were they the Champions at ECHO this weekend but they were also the TORHS 2004 Winter Cup Champions as well. The 12U team was the team in question over some stupid ruling that the coach who felt that because one of our boys was big in size that he was too old to be playing with this group. I was upset because my character was being questioned but was more upset because I was being pulled away from the bench as we were in the process of a game and this should of been handled differently. The tournament people should of known better then to come ask me about the birth certificate after a game knowing that the game was not protested before nor during the game. It was protested after we beat them and at this time was a dead issue. They didn't take the loss well. They then had to deal with looking stupid when the proof was shown.
The 14U team was had a great time and in the CHampionship game it was more like one of our practices where the boys battled eachother vigorously because we had some of our players playing for both the teams in the 14U championship game. The Piranhas had a few of our 1989 players in their roster and it was nice to have the boys play hard against eachother.
The 17U Silver Division was a great victory for our boys. Our 14U division team played up in division and did a great job against boys who not only outsized them but also were i some casses 3-4 years older then them.
The last group was the 17U team who also played very well.
I look to be having a great fun packed year with every age group from the 8U up threw the PIHA Pro Division.
