I'm thinking about upgrading from my WSI gladiator girdle and I was wondering if anyone wanted to recommend one. I'm looking for the best protection I can possibly get, since I play defense and have the nasty bruises to prove it,
Thanks in advance,
Headhunter.

Go with mission....They seem to have the best protection for the money....They are light and stay cool very well....

I use the WSI gladiator girdle, and i have the bruises to prove it, so in other words dont invest in the money. Their gladiator girdle provides minimal padding, and nothing really on the hips. I got hooked off my skates, and i wear mission pants and they have a buckle on the hip, and even with my girdle on i still bruised my hip very badly. If i were u id invest my money in something a little better than the gladiator girlde, especially since u play defense, because it only pads u from the normal spills of the game, not the ones that could hurt u.

Hey, I have a really good suggestion....DON'T WEAR ONE!!!!
I play Bantam Defence, and I don;t wear one, I have the freedom to move around better, and it lets you skate more naturally! And I know you;re gonna say...you're a ***** defenceman, but I'm not, I play the game tough...boards are my zone, and I block more shots than anyone you've ever seen! I like it better, and hey, bruises heal!! PLay through them!!!
Later!!
One love al!!

I just got the new Mission Matrix girdle and i love it. I have never worn a girdle before but took a slapper off the hip and i was having trouble getting around campus (anyone who has gone to college can relate). It is different playing with it but it protects everything. I feel a lot more willing to block shots now.

Bauer MBP girdle- it's a professional girdle and is lightweight. Best protection. Got mine for a steal at www.peranis.com.

The new mission girdles look nice, though I haven't tried one on yet. I wear a bauer girdle on occasion. As always, if you can, try them both on, even if it is at a store you have no intension of buying from.
As for the freedom of movement you get from not wearing one, that is a personal decision. However, you that if you wear one, that puck will always find its way to the the teeny tiny spot that is not covered.

Check out www.forcesports.com . They have a couple good girdles there --lightweight and allow pretty good movement when skating. When and where to wear them is a personal choice. I don't practice in one, but will put one on if we have a tough game a head of us and I know an Al McGinnus is lurking in the other teams ranks!!
good luck with what ever you get

I just got the new Mission Type-M girdle from ePuck. I was very suprised at how stiff it seemed when I took it out of the box, but it when I put it on I had a ton more freedom of movement than the Mission Status girdle I had been wearing plus it really has a whole lot better protection. If anyone here is looking for a girdle and can afford the slightly high price tag, this new mission is very good.

I definitely agree with most everyone above. I too was limping around PU cause of a rather nasty introduction with another player and the boards. I got a Mission Girdle. It is great!! Stays fairly cool, you can take it off with your pants still on if you're in a hurry, AND I feel that I can be more aggressive than usual. Go with Mission, they are the best for Girdles IMO.
