Hello, I am new here.
I was hoping someone could help me, I am looking for a book to help teach my 8 year old son about the basic rules of inline hockey. He just started playing.

Click on this link. You'll find some books about inline hockey. Since your son is young, you may want to try to avoid the books that go heavily into strategy. I hope some IHC readers will come through with more specific information for you to help you make your choice:

All most all of the existing inline hockey books would be pretty advanced for an 8 year-old.

Is it a matter of you as an adult understanding the basics of the game so that you can explain it to him? If so, then take a look at the grassroots coaching manual under "informaiton" on the New Zealand In-line Hockey Association website.

I'd also suggest you visit the USA Hockey Inline website as they have a beginners/learn the game program of sorts and I suspect they can provide you with a document that would you give the needed overview that you are no doubt seeking.

Here are 2 books that i use that are great no matter what age the player is. I teach kids as young as 4 in the summer and we use these books for both ice and roller..


" Coaching Youth Hockey" By the American Sport Education Program... ISBN 0-87322-964-9

" Hockey... The Technical, The Physical, and The Mental Game " By Dr Randy Gregg...ISBN 0-9682970-7-2

They are both available through Barnes and Noble...
