The Dream Sports in Apex (Raleigh), NC will be the host of the next Coastal Cup qualifying tournament. This is a great two rink, state of the art roller hockey facility. Be sure to enter early - this is always a full event.

Cooler Tournament Crowns Seven Champions
Twenty-nine teams across four age groups and seven different divisions competed in the Coastal Cup regional held at the Cooler December 12-14. The Savannah Supergoose were champions in the 14u and 17u divisions and were runnerup in the 10u and 12u divisions.

Coastal Cup is Blogging!
The Coastal Cup web site is now blogging. Blog is short for web log. A blog allows for instant posting of information to the web, without having to change html files and upload them through an FTP.
This means that we will be able to frequently update our web site. As news and notes pass across our desks and email, we will be able to immediately communicate that information to you. Our goal is to become the clearinghouse for inline hockey information for the Southeast U.S.
Be sure you are checking our web site every couple of days as we anticipate posting new and exciting information frequently.

Register Early - Our Tournaments Sell Out!
Please register for the tournaments early. Those of you that have been around for a while know that all Coastal Cup tournaments fill up. In fact, we are often full several weeks before the event starts. It is extremely important that if you plan to attend a tournament that you REGISTER EARLY. Already this season we have had to turn away about 10 disappointed teams that waited too long to register. DON'T LET THIS HAPPEN TO YOU.

First Florida Tournament Just Around the Corner
Our first ever tournament in Florida is only six weeks away. It will be held at Thunderskate in Port St. Lucie February 6-8. We are excited about getting some new teams involved in the Coastal Cup series. We feel pretty confident that when they see that they can be competitive within our events, we will see many new Florida teams.

The following is a press release sent out by USA Hockey Inline on December 15, 2003. Coastal Cup is excited by our involvement with this initiative. We will be releasing more information soon.
USA Hockey InLine Forms Tournament Allies Group (T.A.G.) And Adds New Division To 2004 National Championships; T.A.G. Will Host Co-Branded USA Hockey InLine National Championships Qualification Tournaments
COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. -- USA Hockey InLine today announced the formation of the Tournament Allies Group (T.A.G.), comprised of six inline hockey tournament series: the Atlantic Cup Series, Coastal Cup, ECHO, Rhino Event Management, Six Pac USA and TopCat Hockey. T.A.G. members will host co-branded qualification tournaments with USA Hockey InLine for all tournament-caliber travel teams to advance to the new USA Open Division of the 2004 USA Hockey InLine National Championships, to be held July 28-Aug. 8 in Alpharetta, Ga. at The Cooler.
The agreement was announced by USA Hockey InLine Director Gary Del Vecchio (Colorado Springs, Colo.), Clay Ladouceur (Atlantic Cup Series/Charlotte, N.C.), Jay Milton (Coastal Cup/Summerville, S.C.), Bill Peare (ECHO/Jacksonville, Fla.), Rhino Event Management (Orlando, Fla.), Diane and Mike Thompson (Six Pac USA/San Diego, Calif.), and Patty Twogood (TopCat Hockey/Anaheim, Calif.).
T.A.G. was created as part of an overall effort to promote and grow the sport of inline hockey. All T.A.G. tournaments are separate from the USA Hockey InLine Regional Championships, which are reserved for teams registered with USA Hockey InLine-sanctioned leagues as exclusive benefits of membership. Therefore, teams participating in T.A.G. events are not required to represent sanctioned leagues or be prior members of USA Hockey InLine. The T.A.G. partnership and the USA Open Division will allow all tournament-caliber teams to participate in the USA Hockey InLine National Championships.
Each member of T.A.G. will host two to three USA Hockey InLine National Championship qualification tournaments. Teams will then advance to the new USA Open Division of the 2004 USA Hockey InLine National Championships. This division will include competition in the 8-and-Under, 10-and-Under, 12-and-Under, 14-and-Under and 17-and-Under age categories. Following preliminary-round play, each of these age categories will be seeded into two tiers for the playoff and championship rounds to ensure fair and equal competition.
"USA Hockey InLine is extremely excited about this partnership as it will unite many top inline hockey tournament organizations, said Del Vecchio. "The formation of T.A.G. allows inline hockey leaders to team up and advance the sport."
