Hi Rollerhockyman,
Subscriptions are optional, so don't scam yourself and you'll be fine.

OK I think I have sat back long enough!
I am sick an tried of idiots like you that think Rich is out to scam guys. Rich has stuck his neck out for all of "US" players/fans and wannabes that come to this site to find out the latest Inline Hockey News!
He has gone to bat against the likes of true scam artists and we all know who I am refering to. He held his ground when some (enter your colorful metaphor here) tried to shut him done. All of you who think Rich is trying to scam you do these two things: 1. DO NOT SEND IN YOUR $20 TO HELP KEEP THIS SITE RUNNING AND 2. DO NOT EVER THINK ABOUT COMING BACK TO THIS SITE!!
I have dealt with Rich quite a bit in the last year with my current league and I can tell you for a fact that Rich has been taking it in the backside for all of us to keep this site alive. If you cannot spare a lousy $20 to help him pay his bills you better STAY THE HELL OFF OF THIS SITE. Only true hockey players deserve to be on this site. And if you think you can do better set up your own site and get all the news out to your other so called doubters.
THE FOLLOWING IS NOT GEARED TOWARDS ALL OF THE IHC FOLLOWERS, JUST THE 1% of (enter another colorful metaphor here) THAT THINK THEY KNOW EVERYTHING!
RICH this is for you!
I am so sick of those individuals in this sport that want everything handed to them. They want the world of roller hockey to get to the same plateau (level to you uneducated folk) as the NHL but do not have the BALLS to step up and help with the cost or donate anytime to get it to that level. Those of you jerks you sit here and tell Rich he is scamming guys are the same hack players that are over 18 wearing full cages swinging sticks at ex pro players like myself and then afraid to drop the gloves and take the a@*-kicking you deserve. You are the same people who will NEVER play in any other league because you lack the following things: 1.Talent 2. Dedication to the sport and 3. Lack of courage to sick your neck out for anyone other than yourselves.
I am starting to ramble because I am so pissed off at jerks like you. Anytime you guys think you can do better than Rich go for it! I am sure Rich would prefer to let someone else fit the bill for all the costs of running a site like this.
Talk to you soon Rich
Drop me a line.

I understand that you post was made when you were pissed off, however I have a few comments about it. I am what you would call a hack player that is over 18 and wears a full cage. I am just playing for fun and exercise. I do not slash anyone (ex-pro or not). I have paid Rich the subscription fee to help support the site because I understand how hard it is to keep the site going. I have supported rollerhockey since 1993 when RHI started. Please don't have the attitude that only people that have lots of talent and have played most of their lives can express an opinion about roller hockey.

The subscription fee is not a scam. It is a way to help keep this site going. Advertisements do not provide enough income, so he needs another source. Why shouldn't the people who get benefit from the site help keep it going?
Hmm..I guess now that you have chimed in.. I will be on the "other side" of this..
Let me see here: IHC looks to me like they have some advertising on this site, which although it's not much, money is still coming in ...
Now..to be really a butthead..if RIch has the idea that he can live off this website, without enduring another "real" job, he is sadly dreaming.
The "real" costs of actually running a site are minimal, and I am only assuming that the costs that comes from the advertising easily covers the hosting costs, if not, then he is paying too much to get this site hosted...
Most of the information that I see on here, can probably be had with a phone call to the right people. It doesn't cost alot to type does it?
After I saw RIch's rant and rave about all the dishonest people in the industry , I knew that things were not going to go well for him. Hard to rip the industry and then expect their support and understanding eh?
I run a site, although very small, and I don't have the resources that RIch has, as he has been in the sport waaaaay much longer than I or probably most on this site. And I don't offer any of the news that he has or for that matter hardly anything, as mine is local and since hockey is new here, I can't get any input even with me begging for something from the local assosciations. I use a free server, and no sponsors or advertising is allowed, so I do it out of the "love of the sport".
I don't have access to all the info Rich has either. But...with this site, I would also have to assume that MOST of the people who come here don't even live close enough to take advantage of the "news" that RIch puts out. That's not a knock on RIch, that's just the way it is. How many of us will go abroad to play hockey? for that matter, how many will fly out of state to attend a tournament? Not many. But, still this is good information for those who could or will use it...Now, that's where the subscription part would help those people.
If ya'll would actually read what Rich is purposing. THE SUBSCRIPTION IS OPTIONAL! For all you 'EDUCATED AND NON EDUCATED PEOPLE" that means.... DON'T PAY!
Now on the other hand... I hope Rich doesn't get peeved and decide to make this whole site subscription format. For one, this site WILL DIE! It will not sustain itself on subscriptions. I know of another site that tried to do it this way, and for what it was worth in them saying about they HAD to do it to sustain it, after 2 months the site no longer exists. Sure, at the 1st he had a few let loose with a few dollars, but without all the input from the "freeloaders" the site died because any input and traffic kept the site interesting, it is quite funny sometimes to read some of the "idiots" posts. I guess in other words, it was a boring place to go to.
I would hope that the 700 some odd registered folks(although in your estimation, most are idiots) would continue to do just what they are doing now. And for the few that WANT to help out, more power to ya..
Now let's stop the whining, pay or don't pay , your choice. For what is offered, it serves me absolutely no purpose, so I will not buy a subscription. SO there, I guess I am the 1st one to say I will not help out. If that makes me a "bad guy" so be it.
I wish everyone the best. Let's play hockey! laters, j-bo
PS to jrmatte...get off your high and mighty ex pro self. "Only true hockey players deserve to be on this site." puhlease....most of these non true hockey players are the ones that keep hockey going. They buy gear and rent rink time and I would say mostly, have fun at the same time. If all these non true hockey players didn't play, you and your other goons would have a league of 2 teams, go for it.
"the same hack players that are over 18 wearing full cages swinging sticks at ex pro players like myself and then afraid to drop the gloves and take the a@*-kicking you deserve."
Geez.. ever look at the NHL? seems to me that they are wearing shields too, does that make them hacks? Can't fault someone for trying to protect themselves from the great EX PRO PLAYERS like yourself eh?
Fighting in roller hockey? I can see that you are FULL OF SPORTSMANSHIP! way to go guy! Wish I could play with you. Good luck to you.

The attitude was not directed at individuals like yourselves. I am talking to the players whom wear the cages and then hide behind them. You guys who are out for a good time do not hook above the shoulders or go after players with half shields or no shield. I directed the comments to the individuals making the stupid scam comments. Sorry If i offend you. As far as the Hack comment and my sportsmanship. Ask Rich I am all about the sportsmanship. I started a league and got FREE hockey for 5 travel teams for 6 months. I have plenty of sportsmanship. I am saying that there is a few cowards on the floor that hide behind their cages and swing their sticks like swords when they get beat up the boards or just plain pissed off. I have only dropped the gloves ONCE in roller hockey and that is because some jerk with full cage crosschecked my female-friend in the face when she was skating towards their net! If I offended you I apologize.
Later
Point taken...thanx for clearing up some of your comments. As can be seen, when stupid individuals blow off at the mouth, the intelligent people can only take so much eh? LOL...SInce you mentioned "offended".. I am not offended, I dislike those people who get offended.. if you take things that serious ..where you are offended, grow up, get alife, etc. etc.
Political correctness is the biggest bunch of bull hockey (used that term since this is a hockey site eh?)known to humans. I call it like I see it. If black is black and orange is orange, so be it. If you are a jerk, I will not prance around that fact if you need to be told that, yes indeed, you are a jerk. If your crap doesn't stink, then stick your nose back in it bubba, cause believe me, it's probably worse than the next guys. Just a little of my rant. Take care and Good Luck to you and yours. laters, j-bo

I didn't think your comments were directed at players like me, but your comments were general enough that it could be taken that way.
