Without BASHING and nameing names have the refs been worse, better or the same as last year? It seems that there has been alot of reviewing of game tapes by the league for so early in the season. Don't know if this is to not controlling the games or being afraid of certain teams. I'd like to hear from refs, players and spectators, without malice, please.

I would just like to point out that a similar thread to this two years ago resulted in a lot of negativity and nearly all referees boycotting the remainder of the league season. MLRH fans are fine, but it's probably not a good idea for people associated with the league to comment publically...

Good point Naz....

Posts like this, unfortunately always end up being a ref-bash session. Refs, coaches, owners, and players all read this stuff, so it would be wise to watch what ya say ;)

We've had two games so far and I would say that they are doing a much better job than last year. The third ref makes a huge difference!!!!!

And I'm even saying this when they have called 17 penalties against us in 2 games vs. 5 penalties for our competition. A bit lop-sided, but overall, they are keeping the game clean and getting the job done.

As a "left-coaster" I have not been to any games this season so I can't comment on the refs so far. However, I do know that a lot of time and energy have been expended to improve the reffing - clinics, rule books, reviews, etc. Videotaping of all games should also be useful for ref review/training. I can't imagine all this along with the third ref wouldn't result in a marked improvement.

Thank you, Marty, I knew it could be done without being stupid. I've heard from some players that it's about the same. I want to see a few more games, as I've only seen one, before I feel I can say anything. I have noticed the 3rd man seems to help. Any adult discussion can only help the league get better. Maybe we've grown up in the last 2 years....

What were your thoughts on the one game i know you did see.

Its just not fun unless you stand in front of it!

From what I've seen in our first two games, I think the ref's are doing a great job. There letting guys play, not putting up with crap, and keeping the games going smooth. Whatever happened over the summer, has worked. A+ so far

I like the 3rd man but still thought there was an offside or 2. Saw some holding not called but that's not unusual and really no big thing. One call not made after a whistle could have prevented a fight. But, all in all, decent. I don't think the scoresheet reflected what was called but don't know if that was ref or scorer (no one listed as having been ejected?). I don't like the fact that ANY player can talk to the ref. Really should be just an "A" or "C" and the refs should have enforced that. Little things like that can get out of hand down the line.

WHAT GAME DID YOU ATTEND,I SAW A FEW I THOUGHT THE REFS DID VERY WELL. I NEVER SEEN THE 3 GUYS THAT OFFCIATED, IS MLRH BRINGING THEM IN. HOW DOES ONE APPLY. WHO IS RUNNING THE OFFCIALS.
ALSO I DO AGREE ABOUT WHO SHOULD TALK TO OFFICIALS HOWEVER THE COACHES ALSO SHOULD TRY TO CURB THEIR PLAYERS FROM VIOLATING THIS.

After 3 games in the book now for the Storm once again the ref's did a great job in making the calls and keeping control of the game. What ever the league has done to improve the officiating this season keep it up, it's only making the league better.
