tour break in

i was just wondering if there is something i could do to help break in my new tour g-80's. i have had them for 2 months now and skate twice a week but i am still getting huge blisters, plus my left boot is a little cramped and my feet tend to hurt a little when i play. i do love the skates thoug, big step up from my ccm ultra pro.

i can hardly skate, can't shoot to save my life, but just can not get enough hockey

I had the same exact problem. Only option left is to try and find a shop that can bake them.

Has anyone ever tried the QuickChange Skates? They do not need break-in time. You do not have to even bake them; they are ready to wear out of the box. I bought the new model called the Silver Bullett. The gel heel makes the boot very comfortable and form fitting to your heal. I read on the Major League Roller Hockey website that Steve Seeger, the Commissioner of MLRH said they were the most comfortable skates he has ever worn.

My 10 year old skates 5-7 days a week and really likes his.
He has always worn Gear skates in the past because he has a hard to fit foot.

Maybe you should try the QuickChange skates. They come with Labeda Dynasty wheels. Their website says they guarantee the frame against manufacturers defects.

I spoke to the owner, Greg Goekel before I bought my son's skates and he said they have had no problems with the frame opening and no returns at all since they went to the new style frame that is being used in 2003.

I returned my G-80's because my left foot was in constant pain, just under the arch. I have skated on Mission's for some time, and the feel of the Tour's was just awkward.

this is getting REALLY suspicious. i have seen SOOO many comments in relation to the new tour skates (g80's and 90's) about the EXACT same problem of the LEFT foot being uncomfortable around the middle.

(i have a pair of G90's and i get this symptom aswell). it seems that maybe there is some fault in the design of the left boot..

anyway, for all those who own a pair of these skates, heres my findings.... some have recommended to bake the skates. i phoned the guy who sold me these skates and he advised AGAINST doing this. so i have been put off that idea, seems as tho the guy i know is fairly knowledgable about skates.

the only other solution i have come across is a comment from epuck.com about the skates. a guy was experiencing the same old problem of left foot tightness, so he went out and bought a pair of sports insoles (ones to replace the costech footbed). this apparently solved the problem for him. I will try this out some time in the near future, and will report back when i know the results.

oh, if anyone else has done this or has any other comments about solving the problem, then speak up !

I have had this problem with lot's of inline skates on both feet. My arches are pretty low so any skate that has a sharp radius at the arch causes me problems. This happened a lot when ice skate boots were converted to inlines because of the difference in the heel and toe chassis plates on the aluminum inline frames. Many of these frames had pretty flat planes on these plates which made the sole of the skate bend sharply at the arch.causing this problem.

To fix it I cut inserts in half and elevated the front of my foot by placing the forward half insert under the stock insert. As long as the skate was large enough to do this it seemed to work.
