Hi Folks,
I'm in Las Vegas for the USA Hockey InLine Cup at the Crystal Palace. Come on out and watch the Nations-Tobin Polar Bears if you want to see me in, ahem, action.
It's quite humorous! /wtimages/icons/wink.gif

Rich,
I am sad I'm going to miss your display of how hockey is "supposed" to be played!! LOL!
Good luck, and pot a couple for us back here at IHC!!

I wish I could see Rich "Penalty Time" Graham in action ;-)
Good luck Rich.

Hi Phil,
>>I am sad I'm going to miss your display of how hockey is "supposed" to be played!! LOL!<<
I did not say it was how hockey was SUPPOSED to be played; I said it would be humorous.
>>Good luck, and pot a couple for us back here at IHC!!<<
Thanks. I have scored a couple, but most of my assists, unfortunately, have been to opponents. [sad]
However, I am proud of having played four games so far without acquiring any penalty minutes. The USA Hockey InLine guys promise to create the Rich Graham "Good Guy" Award if I can get through the tournament penalty free. /wtimages/icons/wink.gif
We're 2-2, and all we have to do to get to the championship game tomorrow is to win our 1 p.m. game -- against the guys who beat us 9-1 a couple of days ago... Never say never, right? /wtimages/icons/cool.gif
Oh, and I was 10 minutes late to today's game, but it was because I was at my friend's son's 8th birthday party, NOT because of Playboy's 50th Anniversary event at the Palms Casino on Flamingo near Highway 15, the one with exhibit inside where you can meet Playmates and check out Playboy artwork...

Hi Mission,
Since I didn't see the "Graham's Place" bronze nameplate on the bench in the penalty box, I have refused to go in. /wtimages/icons/wink.gif

Gee Rich-
For someone who was at an 8 yr.old's birthday party, you sure know a lot about the Playboy event! How could that be?!?!?

Well, I better make a phonecall, someone has some serious explaining to do ;-)

Hi Mission,
Call Laser Quest, on Lake Mead Blvd.
I was there until 12:30 p.m. when I realized I'd better get to the rink.
I had a couple slices of pizza and was bumped into by about 15 kids. No penalties were even called! /wtimages/icons/mad.gif

Rich-
Please, please, PLEASE let us know if you made it through with no PIM's. You do realize that achievement could have a major impact on hockey as we currently know it don't you? Be afraid, be very afraid....

I've seen the pictures, judiciously taken in a half-figure frame, so Rich can make claims about what is going on below camera level...
For the actual scouting report, young Master Graham performed very capably, was effective in all parts of the floor, and greatly contributed to the Polar Bears' successes...the P'Bears will certainly welcome him back to any of our future stints of activity...
Rich is a solid player. His only limitation is that he perhaps overskates his ability on occassion out of enthusiasm. Isn't that what every team wants out of its players?
...and the ony penalty he got was because he was trying to make a legitimate play, and his opponent got the worst of the "entanglement." The ref could have called it or not...it was a good play on Rich's part...
Rich, buddy, we'll definitely get together the next outing...
...more later, I gotta stagger into work after driving all night to get us back to school for the Munchkins, and work for the rest of us...

Sounds like you guys had a great time and a great game by Rich. But I know how those drives are on Sunday, Mondays are even worse than they normally are already ;-)

Hi Mission,
The drive home was great until Barstow, then the 15 became one really loooooong parking lot. So I headed south on the 247, then hit, in succession, the 18, 30, 215, 91, 55, and 22. I made it home by 9:45 p.m., just in time to play in my ice hockey game, whereupon I scored my first hat trick in that league and we won 6-3. Not bad for a weekend of inline and ice hockey, eh? /wtimages/icons/cool.gif

Hi Phil,
We fell down in the semis, getting skunked 5-0. But that enabled me to get home at a decent hour and get to work on time this morning, so that's good. If we had won that game, we would have played another game at 6 p.m. if I'm not mistaken, and I would have gotten home a lot later.
It was a fun tournament, and I'll put a wrap-up article together when I get a chance--with photos, of course. /wtimages/icons/wink.gif

Nice Rich, I guess the long drive helps your scorer's touch ~_^

Rich;
apologies...my memory is faulty...that was our own Jimmy Hartford who surrendered the first-blood 2 minutes...I plead the "all-running-together" syndrome...
The Polar Bears coaches want to take this opportunity to congratulate:
1. "Our Old Guys"...the 40 & over team, on their 3rd place finish...
2. "Our Girls," the Womens team of Nations-Tobin Polar Bears, including our "munchkins" line of 13-14 year old, all-guts-in-small-packages girls, on their overall 4th place finish in the Women's 2nd division.
3. Our crowning jewel of Nations-Tobin Hockey League, "Our Young Guys," playing as the "EPT Blaze." Skylier, Jimmy, Brian, and Chris played the entire round robin schedule with only the four skaters in front of Andy, with no subs at all for all three games, and blew everybody away! Even though we see them every day, we were in awe...
The Polar Bears also congratulate our all-tournament select players: Emily Bowen (Women D2), Paul Rohde (40&O), and Jimmy Rodriguez (D3). Jimmy, you continue to be the inspiration and standard of excellence that we all look to...
The USA Hockey Inline Cup continues to be the premier adult national-level inline hockey tournament of the year. We encourage all you players out there to get involved in the next one in 2004.
Special invite to all the over-50 players to join the teams that will be formed to patrticipate in the first-ever 50 & over division next year!
See you all out on the blue floor!
