Man, isn't anyone else on here playing in PIHA this season? The season is almost over, teams are battling for the playoffs, yet I haven't seen a PIHA thread in months!?

Hey Bobby,
I think you may be joining me in the 30 60 club this season.
30 pts 60 pim you friggen goon.
Yeah, our scrappers are coming up huge, even with Mr. Susini going back to the "Pro" level. Frankly, if we get the goaltending we need and scoring, ain't no stopping our train. Yes, we are the team to beat if anyone does know what is going on in the minor leagues of PIHA :).

Hi WRX,
I've got an open invitation to PIHA to send me updates, but they never do. Kinda sad, as it's easy exposure.
Sincerely,

hell at my rate, i'm looking at 30/100.
they're missing 2 20-min misconducts on there for me, add my 32PIM from the 1 growl game....... hahaha
Hey man if I make top 20 in both categories, I'm a happy camper.
Nothing like a happy goon :)
july was kind of a down time for the league as alot of the players played in the two national summer tournaments and i think we only had two games during the month. with the schedule picking up a little and playoffs just around the corner i expect the board to pick up also.

Some how some way, yes, we do only have one loss. The beast gave us a run for our money, and we came back to tie them with 10 sec left on thursday's game. Playoffs should be real interesting....

think we're 14-1-4 right now..... 32pts so far. The PIHA site is far from current however, which really irritates me......

Lunatics minors will come around and win the whole thing...they got the best player in the league.

Really, jeez, I thought the best player in the league was playing on the Scrappers. Don't get me wrong, Gartzke a heck of a player, but even if you took him away, would the tics be any worse than they are now. The league is not full of superstars, and with the goaltending you guys get, you are in every game. Everybody has caught up to us in the peaking department, but still believe we have the best overall lineup stacked up against the other teams. I will say this, I am not Yoder or Denton in any way, but I have established myself enough at this level this year and last year to be considered a top 5 guy in the minor leagues. It is fun to get back on here and check you guys making posts...:) NICE

Whats the competition like in the PIHA minors? Skill level wise.
-venom-
08-13-2003, 10:38 AM
Pretty good...... a good number of guys could definitely play on the pro level, that's for sure......
-venom-
08-13-2003, 10:39 AM
Scotty Gartzke? Dunno man, a team doesn't win just because of one player....
-venom-
08-13-2003, 10:41 AM
I really don't see any other team that is as deep as us offensively OR defensively. Our goaltending could be better, because it's been really inconsistent....... BUT I think our record speaks for itself....

Hey Dave why were you so excited to be almost traded to us a couple of weeks ago????? As far as the best player in the minors Egan has to have at least one vote for it.
Its just not fun unless you stand in front of it!

Egan, Gartzke, Shartle.... all of 'em can play...

Excited? Try like looking forward to it. My hope was to get Jamie to notice me for MLRH, and show him I can play at the so called "pro" level. Don't get me wrong, I like being on a winner and playing with my teammates, but if I had realized some things a few months ago, probably would have played for the grenades. Everything is a learning experience, but no one can take away the feeling I have gotten from being apart of the Growl organization. They are a bunch of class guys who put on a great show. That is my brownnosing for the day :).

I agree that you guys are probably the deepest team in the league but.... There are still a couple of things that I haven't seen the Crappers improve on since the begining of the season. 1) ego, most of you are great guys but many believe that the team revolves around them, rather than just being a part of the whole. 2)I still hear guys talk about how they can't play with so and so. "Why does Rick put me on his line". 3) in the begining of the season there were a lot of bad teams. a lot of them have caught up and gotton much better. They are catching up. I think all that needs to end before you guys make a run for the title. Just MHO.

Ego, me, an ego? lol, of course we have egos. We believe we are playing semi pro ( dont choke on that comment). The frustrating part for you, bret, is the fact our coach, brought people from the outside on the team. Not fair at all, and totally respected your decision to opt out of your Growl responsibility. If I was in your position, I probably would have done the same thing. I usually stay with a team for the whole year, well, unless someone posts my departure on the internet ( I still think that is too funny). Anyway, your comments are welcome to discuss pro or minors. Yeah, yokes, SImon is a great player when he shows up lol. Go scrappers, and oh yeah, the GROWL :).

The best player in the league was Susini until we elivated him back to the pro level for a playoff run. That said, the Rolling Relics and Scrappers are the clear favorites. I do give the Beast and Lunatics a "dark horse" nomination, but the best team in my opinion, which may seem scewed, is the Scrappers. I base my opinion of the depth of the team and the fact that any player can score and they do not rely on any one player, though I'm sure DB might think so on occasion...lol.

Yokes,
That was the highlight of the season so far, having Berk walk to the front office at Marple with a Grenades jersey waiting for him! He was completely convinced he was traded, however he was a good sport about it all!

Agreed! The biggest regret we have is the departure of Bret Compton from our organization. The team's protocol was not followed and while the situation was later realized and fixed, we lost a good and faithful player. I have a comment to defend the constantly bashed goaltending of the Scrappers! I recognize that the team's #1 goalie might be somewhat inconsistent, but for the most part he has been a stud for this team during minor league games. Yes, he plays on 84 inhouse teams and gets burnt out and quits on the rink occasionally, but with a 14-1-4 record I fail to remember him having much more than a 2 game slump all year. Enough said!

good call flynn
now update the damn PIHA stats! haha :)
GROWL
08-19-2003, 03:45 PM
What do you mean update the PIHA stats. I always update the site within a day or two. All I can do is my part. I am responsible for putting in the stats after a home game. As you can see they are all there. I'm doing my part to help Marple get back on track and obviously there are a few other random games not up from other teams. What confuses me is why it takes so long for all of it to update to the rest of the info (standings, leader boards, ect). I'm not really sure how it works though.
-venom-
08-19-2003, 04:42 PM
hmm...... well we're missing personal stats since at least the 3rd beast game i believe, team stats from about 2-3 games before that.
Dontget me wrong flynny, i'm not whining or being a nit-picking baby, i just want to see where i stand points/PIM-wise..... ya know i did set myself a 30/100 goal at the beginning of the year........ lol
As someone who was trying to help fill in the stats - I can tell you what the biggest problem I saw was....Visiting teams who depend on the home team to fill in the game results - often failed to submit a properly completed roster sheet.
There were often no names attached to the numbers used. As players on many teams used often used different Jerseys from game to game, there was no way to rely on a roster sheet completed with only numbers to fill out accurate game stats - even using the league master list. There were multiple consecutive games where no useable roster sheets were submitted after the games. This is largely why Marples stats were so far behind, and I'm sure other teams found the same problem.

Anyone know the score from the Relics v. Scrappers game on the 16th?
Db55UD02
08-20-2003, 08:40 AM
The Relics forfeited the game due to a lack of a rink. I believe we get the win, but not the way I would have liked it. I would have liked to gone to their ghetto fabulous rink in the boonies and beat them like we should have in July ( not that I am bitter). The fact is, that rink is a huge advantage. There are rails that are sticking out of the sides, among other hazards within the confines of the rink. I think any person in their right mind, would want us, the beast or lunatics to get home advantage throughout the playoffs just to avoid a trip to Reading. As bad as a forfeit is, keep it coming. I want to be in feasterville for the next month. NICE

You don't say! After all the bad mouthing MLRH took you would have thought there'd be a better way to get info to the website.

I can empathise... Sometimes it took days to get scoresheets from teams - if at all - when I was running the MLRH site. I'm all for fining teams that don't provide stats in a timely fashion!

I believe one of the players owns the rink in Reading, a lot cheaper than paying for action sports center. This is what I heard, not sure if its correct or not.
i don't think they were getting much help from the people at action sports. also, most of their fan base didn't seem to want to travel the extra distance. just an opinion.

well their new rink is horrible..... and on top of the pathetic rink, fans should NOT be sitting THAT close to players... I think it's a joke that they are allowed to have a 'pro' team play in that place, it's a disgrace.
Next season I'm gonna start a new PIHA team that plays out of Rollerama in Levittown, sound good?

The game was postponed (cough forfeited cough) until a further date, which there isn't one available. What will happen to with this game? Let's have a survey shall we?
A. Flip a coin for the 2 points
B. Build an ark, find two of every animal, wait til it rains, hold the game there and then have the same playing atmosphere as you would in Reading (probably better lighting though)
C. Call God ask him to throw us an extra day so we can play this game.
D. All drop our shorts, biggest pimple wins ( for some reason there has been too much conversation in our locker room why JD would win ).
Honestly I have no idea what we are really gonna do about this. I guess we will see by the end of the season if the game really needs to be played for playoff implications.

Technically the Rolling Relics and Nasty Boyz have not forfeited that game. I honestly don't have a clue what they expect us to do at this point. Weeks and weeks ago I tried to come to a workable solution, but they didnt get back to me until the week of the game, when we had no ability to reschedule. Hey let's install our own death-rail, hell let's skill the hockey and play rollerjam instead.
