Anyone know how the ticket sales are progressing? They started on July 1 on the West coast. Anybody tell how many have been sold?

Hi Nancy,
I don't yet have details on ticket sales, but you might be interested in the following:
The first SpeedHockey International exhibition game that takes place Saturday, September 13 at the Bren Center in Irvine, California, has attracted another former top Roller Hockey International star, in addition to Rob Laurie, the Yoder brothers, Hugo Belanger, etc.
It's Victor Gervais!
I am really looking forward to checking out this event.

Well it took him long enough! He used to play ice here in Hampton Roads for the Admirals.

Hi Nancy,
Again, I'm not sure I understand what you're saying. Victor Gervais was an original Anaheim Bullfrog. In 1993, he scored the winning goal in Anaheim's 10-7 final win over the Oakland Skates for the RHI Championship.

According to hockeydb, Victor played some 239 games (not counting playoffs) for the Hampton Roads Admirals between 1990 & 1998. Twas ECHL at the time.
Trust me on this, if Nancy says they were on the Admirals, don't bet against her ;)

about 90% of the original RHI guys in 1993 were minor league ice hockey players looking to play year round and make a little extra cash. that's why most of them couldn't skate that well. the bullfrogs first game ever was against the utah rollerbees and was horrible because the players couldn't even skate that well, though the bullfrogs won 13-3.
victor was one of those who made the transition to RHI from ice hockey.

Thanks, Ben! My only gripe with Mr. Gervais is when interviewed while playing for the ECHL Admirals (and after 2 seasons of RHI) he was asked what he wanted to do when he was thru skating. He said he wanted to go back to Canada and open/operate ice clinics. Didn't want to give back anything to the inline community, just ice. And where did he make his living? South of the Border. So don't open any clinics down here!! Roller has always been a joke for those players. But we keep making the mistake of asking them back (they might draw the "paying public") instead of promoting from within the sport. I'm sure they aren't playing for pocket change. I'm not saying they can't play the game, just that there are a bunch of players who can and I know their names just as I know Victor's. Okay, soapbox away!!!

Hi Ben,
I wasn't arguing Nancy's point that Victor played for Hampton Roads. I was confused by her post, which gave me the impression that she thought that Victor Gervais was playing inline hockey for the first time.

yeah i was at the game, i had season tickets to the bullfrogs ever year so i went to just about every game. the prices were so cheap for season tickets i couldn't pass up on the deal.
i would also travel down to san diego to watch the barracudas play the bullfrogs and i had friends who lived in phoenix so i would go over there to watch the phoenix cobras play the bullfrogs.
did you go to alot of the games?

Hi Chris,
Yes, I saw a lot of the games. I was working for Roller Hockey magazine and then InLine Hockey News throughout RHI's existence. During one game, when Inline Hockey Central had just started, we did "live" online coverage of a Anaheim Bullfrogs' MLRH game at the Pond. That was a blast. I'll never forget opening night at the Pond -- I thought the Utah Rollerbees looked like skating bananas in their yellow uniforms. /wtimages/icons/smile.gif

that's sweet that you worked for roller hockey magazine. what did you do at Rolller Hockey Magazine? i subscribed to that magazine and got a lot of inside in roller hockey from it.
were you able to meet a lot of players through your 2 jobs at RHM and inline news?
yeah, those rollerbee jersey's were one of the worst jersey's i have ever seen.
