I was reading my USAHockey Inline book and i was reading the college section and it says no tape or string on the outside of your pants. What is the purpose of this rule. I use tape on the outside of my pants to prevent my pants from getting stuck under my wheels. I would like to hear the reason for this rule.

I'm not 100% sure about this, but I think there is two answers:
1) Looks better with nothing on the outside of the pants. I'm not saying I agree with this, but this was the rumor for the rule when I was in CRHL.
2) To keep all players on the team with the same uniform look/color. If some players put a load of tape on thier pants that happens to be the color of the opposite team, then there might be a problem.

Hope this helps.

Please discuss this direct with the regional league directors. With exception to myself, I do not think any of them will post here on this subject. There are many positive things about the college section added to the USAHIL rulebook. However, the flip side is that it was done poorly and without proper research of what rules are being used and without the knowledge of the regions. It is being addressed as we speak along with many other issues.

Hi Rebecca,

I'm assuming that Fryer is a collegiate hockey representative, so that's why you're asking him to discuss this elsewhere. However, an IHC reader is asking for answers on THIS message board, and having you send people to discuss these issues elsewhere does not serve IHC's readership.

Richard,

I am not a representitive. I was just giving what I thought may be the answers. Probably should have made it more clear that I was basically giving an opinion and passing on a rumor. Hope this clears that up.
While I am directing a post at you, wanted to thank you for the work you put in for this site. Keep it up.

Hi Tim,

Thanks for the clarification and the kind words. I appreciate it. I understand that Rebecca is simply trying to grow the college game and for that she deserves a lot of credit.

Sincerely,
