Hi Marty,
I stopped in at the event this morning and will be back there in a couple of hours. I'll give you an update with lots of details later this afternoon/evening. I will say that the talent level is amazing amongst this group of 15- to 18-year-old players!

Hi Marty,
Yes, I will get all the scores for all the games. /wtimages/icons/smile.gif
In case anyone is wondering, Team Alberta is participating in the Festival because USA Hockey InLine wants to provide assistance to their inline hockey program.

Team Alberta participated in the Festival for the first time last year and finished with 2 wins, 2 losses. Based on their performance last year they were invited to partcipate as full competing member this year.
The four U.S. teams participating in the Festival are based on some 640 players trying out (i.e., 4 camps with 160 players each). Team Alberta was drawn from about 40 players!
Thanks very much in advance for providing the scores Richard. If you get a chance to say hello to Hockey Alberta Inline Coordiantor Shawn Bullock and Assistant Coach Rob Baustead please tell the team lots of folks back home rooting for them!
Cheers, Marty Alexander
Actually it was about 96 players in each region, but who's counting..........

Hi Marty,
Team Alberta came back to make it 2-1, but Team South scored almost immediately to go up 3-1. Alberta scored to make it 3-2, but that's how the game ended.
I met Shawn Bullock and his buddy Brian and said hello to both of them for you. Team Alberta's fan club was making a lot of noise. /wtimages/icons/smile.gif

My mistake then. I thought I heard that each camp was filled to the max.
Marty
I think they had about the same in each camp - total being 456 players possibly including including your kids, as they did not specify if Alberta was included in the total who attended the regional festivals. In any case it's agood cross section of the top talent in the USA in this age group. There may be a handfull of others who should have been there, but its' a pretty good representation (other than some Cal. Narch Players who distained coming to the tryouts, or who did not make the team.)

Hi MD and Marty,
I heard nearly 400 players total. I'll try to get a final total tonight. I'm heading back to the rink right now. There are several games tonight, then a consolation game and a gold-medal game tomorrow morning.

To Alexander and other interested fans:
You can listen to the games!
Go to: usahockey.com - scroll down over halfway to the National Junior Festival - click on Internet Radio Broadcast to listen. I'm assuming tomorrow's championship game will be broadcast.

Hi Marty,
In last night's games, Team East defeated Team West 9-7, and Team Midwest held off the charging Team Alberta, 8-7. At one point, Team Midwest held a 6-2 lead.
The Gold Medal game tomorrow takes place between Team South and Team West, while the East and Midwest faceoff for the Bronze.
Team Alberta heads to the beach... and I think they're going to enjoy it, if the darn June gloom ever disappears./wtimages/icons/cool.gif
I will have an in-depth story along with great photos by USA Imaging on the IHC Home Page within a couple of days.

Good morning inline fans! Just wondeirng if anyone knows the outcome of the last two games last nite. Seems like know one team is really dominating and that every game is up for grabs. Depending on the outcome of last nites games I'd imagine the tie breakers went into effect for two medal games today.
Marty in Alberta
yes team East got knocked out probably by losing to Team Midwest 15 - 13 and had been up 9 - 3. Even though they won two out of the next three and beat both teams now fighting for the Gold Medal. And Team Alberta beat team East - was a close competiton it seems.

Any idea when the players selected for the Jr. National team will be announced?
I don't believe they are having a Junior National team unless that has changed. The selection was to choose 4 players who would then go to Colorado to try our for the Men's National team at the final tryout.

Richard:
Thanks for the final update! So I gather Team East beat Team West in game 9 and Team Midwest beat Team Alberta in game 10. Do you by chance have the scores?
Again, thanks for the all the updates. Greatly appreciated.
Great web site you run.

MDE3 is correct. 4 of the players from the Junior Festival will be selected to try out for the Men's National Team. Check out Rich's summary on the IHC front page, there he suggests 3 players that he thinks are likely to be chosen...when they will announce it? I don't know. Hopefully soon.
Let me tell you, these were some talented 15-18 year olds! I only saw 2 games, but they were simply AMAZING!

Ok, so what happened to the 12 floor/2 goalie players selected from the National Junior Festival to represent the U.S. at the World Junior Championships? I guess the format's been changed from last year - just wondering why. Or am I just way off regarding format?!?
And yes, the talent level is amazing. There's a lot of excellent inline players across the country. Even the tryout camps are filled with nonstop high quality hockey. You could probably field another 4 teams with only a slight drop in skill/talent.
