Who was the only person inducted into the NHL Hall of Fame as a player, yet never played in an NHL game? Who drafted him? and what was his number?

Vladislov Tretiak, drafted I believe by the Black Hawks but don't know his number - first Soviet Player ever drafted into the Hockey Hall of Fame. OOps - you said the NHL Hall of fame - in that case I don't know.

Or could you be referring to Jonathan Cheechoo, jersey #45 inducted on 3/15/01, drafted by the Sharks in '98??? He didn't play in an NHL game 'till last season.

Pretty amazing, huh? He was inducted 3/15/01 after a game; chosen to represent the Thoroughblades and honored 'cuz he's the first Moose Cree First Nations member ever to sign a NHL contract. All before ever playing an NHL game!!!

Forgot to put the answer. It's Tretiak, Drafted by the Montreal Canadiens, and his jersey # was #20...I won a free replica jersey for that one!

I believe Tretiak (my answer) was drafted into the Hockey Hall of Fame, but never into the NHL Hall of Fame so you better give back the Jersey.........
