<font color=blue>What do you feel should be the true mission for a college inline program?

Things I would prefer you do not include in this post:

HOW to implement a program
references to immidiately becoming a varsity sport

I am asking you to just basically stick to a simple original mission.

just as some ideas, consider the following:

Do 4 teams of college only players interacting on a saturday morning, qualify for whatever your specific idea of &quot;mission&quot; constitutes?

What if the 4 teams are not at all recognized by the colleges that they are from? Does this qualify for whatever your specific idea of &quot;mission&quot; constitutes?

Does a team acting as a legit sports club at a college that has no rink to play at qualify for whatever your specific idea of &quot;mission&quot; constitutes?

Does a roller hockey club listed on the university's list, but only has 5 actual members qualify for whatever your specific idea of &quot;mission&quot; constitutes?

I have asked you not to include inferences to implementation or varsity becasue that will be in another eventual PART of this small series and I dont want you all to jump the gun.

THANKS!

Rebecca

-Yes, most definitely.

What if the 4 teams are not at all recognized by the colleges that they are from? Does this qualify for whatever your specific idea of "mission" constitutes?

-Sure...why not? I don't expect to be school sponsored or anything like that...

Does a team acting as a legit sports club at a college that has no rink to play at qualify for whatever your specific idea of "mission" constitutes?

- Yeah...you can always find other rinks to play at...

Does a roller hockey club listed on the university's list, but only has 5 actual members qualify for whatever your specific idea of "mission" constitutes?

-A club is a club, is a club...

All of those instances you brought up about what a "mission" is are all first steps. For a college club to ever go anywhere it must first be started. At some point it will not be school supported, at some point they won't have their own rink, and at first you may only have 5 players. As long as that team grows season after season, it stays within the bounds of it's "mission"

MSU when it first began had a hard, slick floor with wooden tables as boards for its rink. It had a small collection of players who just loved to play, and university supported? hell no. Today we have a beautiful rink, 2 full teams and school support. We stayed true to the mission, and we continue to grow every year.

A prime example of the college players faith in the mission is that of the MCRHL's exhibition team Macomb Community College. I think when we played them this last season they had a grand total of 6 players. These guys were talented and had hope, they wanted more players next year and had visions of being a full member team as soon as possible. This is how our "mission" works.
