Shock Puck Question

I was curious to find out what everyone thought about the Shock puck?

I was in Colorado a couple weeks ago at the USA Hockey Inline national team open tryout camp, and they used the Shock pucks. None of the other players had really heard about that puck, and a lot of them didn't like it. They all said it bounced to much.

I think that it moved well on the sport court surface, but I have to admitt it did bounce a lot.

Whats your thoughts?

I have one, I like it alot....... bounces way less than an IDS puck...

I loved it. It didnt really bounce all that much whenever I used it. Plus it did roll over too much either. I would porbably give it a 9/10

I agree, the IDS does bounce more imo.

In our trial of it, most players thought it bounced about the same, or at least the difference wasn't significant enough to tell, but that it did "settle" from a bounce quicker than the IDS...we note that, as the glide pins wore down over 20 hours of use, the Shock had less surface of the glide pins in contact with the playing surface, and therefore did glide faster than the IDS. Brand new, the glide was really noticeable, less so as wear occurred.

You played with four of our guys out at that camp...they felt that they had some comfort level, having played with the puck before. They noted to me that there were several comments both positive and negative about the feel and performance of the puck.

I have to say I can't agree with that statement, I really like the puck, it rolled very little and bounced a little bit less, it did settle much quicker than the IDS though. The only bad part was when I blocked a shot with it, lets just say I still have the bruise, and its about 3 or 4 weeks old.

I personally didnt like it originally, but once I adapted to it I enjoyed the puck.

Yea but if you've been nailed with an ice puck, without pads, that hurts!

I think at Crystal Palace we are using that puck know but i am not sure. The one they are using bouces like a superball. A goaled got scored because it was bouncing. I personally like the IDS because it is easier to handle. I prefer the rocket puck to this new puck to. I guess this new puck is cheaper. Typical of the owner.

Actually when we go to Narch ournaments everyone complains about the Rocket pucks not sliding and bouncing way more than the IDS - jury still out on the shock puck though. I dont know if it's really any less expensive though.

The Shock Puck does slide much better than the Rocket Puck.

Has nothing to do with it being cheaper, and it doesn't bounce nearly as much as the IDS.

If you're an ice hockey guy, this puck is perfect because you can actually feel it on your stick, it's got a little weight to it.....

I HATE rocket pucks. Worst puch ever besides the MAch 1....... NARCh winternats this year, EVERYBODY was bitchign about the damn rocket puck...... argh I hate that thing..

As an ice guy I definately notice the similarities of the Shock puck to a traditional ice puck.. I definately liked using it as you definately can feel it on your stick alot better that the IDS or any of the other roller pucks I have used...

I like how you can fell the weight on your stick also like an ice puck. Sometimes I honestly do not feel the puck on my stick with some other pucks.

Definitely a lot a great questions and comments in regards to the Shock Puck.

In regards to performance I am very proud to say that the Shock Puck is at the very least comparable to IDS.

The Shock Puck was designed specifically to eliminate the 3 problems that have faced players since the inception of the sport; Bounce, Roll and Speed.

We have always maintained that due to the engineering changes that we have made to the Shock Puck that it takes a period of adjustment.

I am proud to say that those of you that have given the Shock Puck a chance have responded with positive words of encouragement.

In regards to pricing; Shock Hockey wanted to put an innovative product on the market that was cost efficient with high performance. I feel comfortable saying that we are definitely on our way.

Based on the research that I was able to do I know that we meet or beat the majority of our competitors. A great deal has to do with the quantity of the order as well.

In other news, Shock Hockey is finishing our research and development on a new wheel that is as innovative to skating as the Shock Puck is to playing.

We hope to have the wheel on the marketplace by September although specially selected teams will be skating on them throughout the summer tournaments.

Thats what we where told. I have to agree about the Rocket it does bounce a lot. The IDS doesn't. Whatever this new puck we have is likes to bounce. I will let you know if it is the Shock Puck as soon as I see a Shock Puck.

We are definately not using the shock puck. This puck we are using sucks. Like i said it bounces like a super ball. I would rather use the rocket then this puck. I will let everyone know how i like the Shock Puck.

Definitley we had an IDS puck in our league championship and I ahd just come from an ice game, the puck was so light the first few times I handled it it kept rolling off my stick and I had no idea because it was so light.

Yeah, thats the first thing I noticed about the IDS after using the Shock Puck in warmups...... that thing is maaaad light....

Oh yeah, and supposedly, the Shock Puck will never bounce more than twice...... so far, I've thrown the thing off a wall and let it hit the floor just to test the theory, and well one big bounce, one small, and it settled... lol

I do have to admitt the Shock puck is better than those awful Mach-1 pucks.
I think that its better than most pucks, and one thing I do like is it didn't roll on end, like a lot of them tend to do.

Is it a black rubber puck with turquoise plastic disks on each side? They were selling those in bulk a few years ago for $.50 ea. Surplus pucks from a concept that never really made it.

I think everyone was half afraid to criticise the thing publically because it was "The Narch" official puck - however the noise I heard all around the rinks from the players was pretty much summed up in your post above.

Definitley, our league was considering buying a bunch, it was between them and the shock pucks, we were using ISD until we found out the rink was closing.
