Rich, what do you think about having a social kind of board on here. I think for the most part all of us get a long pretty good and that would give us a board to talk about random things and goof off (which we already do but then we would have a board for it;-) I just thought it might be a cool idea. Thanks

Not a bad idea!!! Some hockey-related topics don't really fit into any existing boards (like "congrats Devils!!) How many threads do we see get way off track with random thoughts?!?!? Maybe they need a home.
Given the stream of conciousness reaction you are talking about - how many would actually switch boards just to ramble??? But a chat forum might seem more in order for this outlet - Oops I guess that's "Rink Raps".

Hi Folks,
I understand what you're saying Mission and Saxon, and I think that MDE3 has the best solution. I am trying not to add MORE Message Boards, as I think there's a limit to how many you can have before they lose some effectiveness.
Rink Raps chats won't have "staying power" (i.e., once you've disconnected it's over), on the other hand, SOME people have been known to copy the conversation and use it for blackmail. LOL. Unbelievable? True.
Anyway, I'd prefer not to start a message board for random topics right now. I think those that are sprinkled through all the message boards right now are acceptable. We all have additional passions besides inline hockey (at least, I hope so), so it doesn't bother me to see an occasional "Go Devils" post... even though I'm an L.A. KINGS fan /wtimages/icons/wink.gif

Even though this idea is not going to happen, at least right now. I thought you know there could be topics like favorite tv show, whats in your cd player, etc. You know, because theis to me is my online inline community and I thought it would be a good way to know one another a little more. And whenever I tried Rink Raps, there was no one ever on, maybe we should set up chats. What about that idea?

hehehehe, ECRHA has one of these forums. It has a 5 page post on movie quotes and thats about the excitment of it.
Yeah Rich, how about a chat night? We get them going on AIM sometimes at about 1am when no one can sleep.

Hi Folks,
Feel free to schedule your own chats whenever you like. For example, if you want to talk about a certain topic and I happen to be unavailable, schedule a chat and go for it.
I can't commit to a specific time right now because I don't know when I'll be available to be online and have time to participate. However, if IHC's readers happen to have an evening that works for the majority, I can pledge to show up if at all possible.
Sincerely,

Rich,
Maybe for a site suggestion, what about a little pro shop of sorts? You could sell some IHC shirts, hats, jerseys.
Just a thought.

English, it's that damn Lord of the Flies book that was so boring I couldn't even read the cliffs notes.
columbus_RHstar
06-12-2003, 09:09 PM
Yes, but you could put pictures with the equipment, which you can't do on the message board.
missionhockey21
06-12-2003, 09:12 PM
I didnt read the book either, luckily we watched the movie before the test and I managed a B. It was pretty stupid. lol

True, but maybe some people dont want to put pictures;-)
columbus_RHstar
06-12-2003, 09:17 PM
Definitley, we watched the movie, but I fell asleep, but I did cheat off this one smart girl, so I got an A, but I didn't do anything else with the book, I think before the test I had 2 or 3 points out of 90 something.

Hi DC,
Thanks for the suggestions. I am gratified that you think that IHC-related gear might sell.
On the other hand, I want to avoid "cheesy!" at all costs.
So, if IHC sold site-related products, what would you be likely to buy? I'm "buy-assed," but here are my picks: /wtimages/icons/wink.gif
1. An Inline Hockey Central bottle opener. Cool for those late nights at a motel when you have forgotten to bring a beer-bottle opener, yet don't wish to risk breaking the top of the bottle using the old, "Smash-the-beer-bottle-top-off-on-the-hotel-door's-security-latch" trick.
2. An IHC sweatshirt that reads, "Not Homeless, But Getting There. Support Inline Hockey with a Donation."
3. An IHC beer-doily puck. "Too thin to shoot, but doesn't bounce at all!"
OK. It's late. Give me a freakin' break... /wtimages/icons/shocked.gif

I can probably get the money to you in... oh I dont know 30-40 years of working non stop spending no money and living in my parents basement. But when I get that IHC sweatshirt, I'll be the happiest man over 50, well 2nd happiest, I think the top honor would go to you ;-) lol

Hey Rich-
How 'bout IHC Car Fresheners (ever smelled a car with gear in it when it's 100 degrees out?) I'd pay good money for those!
Or personalized, zip up, total enclosure body bags - with a vent that sticks out the window....... Says IHC Clean Air Sac. I hope with all this promnotion of new Pro formats and rink systems - someone at the top of the feed chain is a shower manufacturer......

True. But what about IHC's bumper stickers? Bumper stickers are inexpensive, advertise, and usually overpriced. Sounds like the perfect thing to sell.

Hi Josh,
Good suggestion. I've been thinking about it for a while, but I haven't had the cash to produce the items for sale. With new advertising support from Speed Hockey, Disney and others, I hope to be able to create some neat products that IHC's readers might be interested in purchasing.
Here are some off the top of my head:
IHC beer bottle opener!
IHC beer can cooler!
IHC brand beer!
I'm thirsty, gotta go.

Rich,
How about an IHC Swimsuit Calendar to go along with the Beer accessories?
What ever happened to those Pro Beach Hockey Girls?
I think if IHC does air fresheners, they should have the "smell of hockey" scent. I would be a million.

New Forum: the "Suggestion Bin - How to make a Million from Inline Hockey" or: "put your money where your mouth is"
You have to pay IHC to be a member - nominal fee of $20.00, and ideas promoted are logged back to paying members/authors. Entrepreneurs who want to use the ideas have signed a standard earnings sharing agreement as part of their original membership - agreeing to pay the author (who probably can't afford the development costs) 5% of the gross sales $. Included in the membership is a standard agreement binding the parties who use the service. You can only see the ideas as a paying member which means if you want to steal it - you can't - you are automatically bound by your intitial contract.
E.G. You have a great idea for a T-Shirt and you want to blurt it out to everyone. But you have scrounged up the $20.00 and sent it in to play IHC Wheel of Fortune (another new Forum title). Some one else - also a member decides the idea is worth producing - the T-Shirts sell for $10.00 -so you get $.50/shirt. As part of your membership agreement all parties have already agreed to make their "books" available should they be challenged.

Hi MD,
Why not?
I have one idea that I've wanted to follow up for some time. I have some great inline hockey cartoons that were created by my buddy Breck Wilson for InLine Hockey News, and I want to put these black-and-white cartoons on T-shirts. Heck, I'd even buy 'em! /wtimages/icons/shocked.gif

Which "half"? or is it just "half is better than nothing"? /wtimages/icons/wink.gif Of course a pic of me in a speedo could rapidly become the poster for a new horror flic: "Speedo Hockey"
I don't know - why not???? Of course my fee for this proposal is another 5%..........
