Is there to be a CRHL Top Ten or Twenty-Five rankings coming out soon? Was there and All-American Team selected from the 2000 CRHL National Championship Tournament?

The CRHL does not do top-25/top-10 rankings. In the past these rankings have come from other media outlets.

Feel free to post your own Top-10 and get this subject going on the message board, though. I am interested to see what others think...

Here is my top-10.

1. Michigan State
2. University of Michigan
3. R.I.T.
4. Colorado State
5. UC - SLO
6. Purdue
7. Penn State
8. Penn State Altoona
9. Truman State
10. Univeristy of North Texas

Reasonings (hows this for trying to explain non-sense):

MSU is 100-4-4 in the last 3 years and two time defending national champs.
U-M is a young team that will give MSU a run in Midwest Region, which I feel is still the region to beat.
RIT was extremely strong at nationals.. just not organized enough. This could be the year for them.
Colorado State was runner up last year and should have a strong team again.
UC-SLO is the strongest team in the Western Region after all the graduates from UCSB.
Purdue has an extremely young team with the top two rookies in CRHL-MR from the previous season.
Penn State - A little organization re-org and they should have a strong team
PSU - Altoona - final four last year. good deal of talent.
Truman is a traditionally strong program and should again have a good team (although meremac may give them a run).
UNT has a young team that may be a contender.

So there you have it...

One team that is sitting in the shadows that has not been mentioned is the
Cal Poly Pomona boys. Don't count these guys out who basically dominated
the games they played last season under the leadership of Tom Wiebe.

As for the 2000-2001 season for the Western Region. I will not give out too
much information now, you will have to wait and see some of the very surprising
changes of many teams. UCSB did suffer a loss of many great players to graduation,
but have a strong group of veterans still. I am sure they will have added many great
young talent from all of the publicity they have received in the Southern California
region. Cal Poly SLO is the same great team again this year with a great veteran squad,
although they did lose their goalie. Pomona is another great team that ranks right up
there with SLO. Finally, I cannot leave out my own team, Chico State. My fourth year
organizing and bringing in new players has finally paid off. I am sure I will see
some surprised faces this year on other teams when they see the additions and changes.
We also have the Notre Dame Hounds goalie and two very good back ups.

Don't forget, the championship is heading to the west this year!!! Us westerners are not
prepared to let the cup fly anywhere else! Can't wait for a great season with some great
teams and competition.

I have to agree about Pomona. They were on my short list -- and at this point everything is pretty much a guess anyways. As with every previous year I am sure we will see a tremendous increase in talent league wide.

As for the trophy thing.... Its still young and can't travel that far from its home in East Lansing Michigan. It has only been as far west as CHICAGO, where MSU won it two years ago. Maybe Great Plains can win it in a few years and then eventually that trophy can make it all the way to the west coast. JUST KIDDING of course. :)

I give PSU-Altoona good odds this year. If RIT doesn't lose many players, they will have a strong team, although I was told that they had some late season additions. We'll see how they do this year.
Purdue is going to be a challenger this year. Zack and Spice are going to help Purdue make some waves.

Ohio State has a very strong core of young talent. I thought OSU B (which consisted of mostly younger guys) was very good last year.

As always, we'll just have to wait and see.....

I think you guys have also forgotten three of the better clubs in the country. If I'm not mistaken, both St. Charles County and St. Louis Merrimac beat MSU. I think they, as well as our team (Elgin Community) should be considered, Division III or not.

St. Charles is a good squad. I should have prefaced the ranking as CRHL DI. My mistake. I think meremac would lose 9 of 10 games if playing MSU at an event again. There are no need to make excuses, but everyone knows the circumstances of that weekend (when MSU lost 3 of its 4 losses in its 100-4-4 record in the past 3 seasons). Not exactly a measuring stick for other teams. I think Meremac is a close contender for the bottom half of the PRESEASON top 10. They (along with Pomona) are on the brink of being in the Top10. It is quite possible that the first few weeks of play could break either of these teams into the top10.

ECC lost every game against MSU by a SIZEABLE amount. They were also regularly beaten by large deficits in the CRHL Midwest by the big teams. I appreciate your optimism in regards to your team but I think at this point it is unfounded. Sorry. For a first season team you did very well though.

Here is my top ten.

and a short explanation...

The #2,3,and 4 teams could all beat each other. Both games were won by 1 goal., w/ SLO defeating UCSB 3-2 in the Elite Eight, and Colorado St. beating SLO 7-6 in the semis. Both games could have gone either way.
Cal Poly Pomona enters the list at 8. They went 1-1 against Penn St., beating them in the round robin and then losing in the round of 16 i believe. Pomona has a good amount of players coming back, and if they actually have a full squad(more than 7 guys!!!) they will definitely be a force
R.I.T., as well as Altoona, have a very deep squad. They will be a force in coming years. Organization, as mentioned before, is their key. They have the talent.
Truman beats out Purdue fot the last spot...Truman was only defeated by 1 goal versus Altoona...which shows that they can play as well. Purdue lost by 6 goals to Colorado St.(who are a great team and went on to become runners-up.)

I know we're not a top ten team, I'm just saying you should keep it in mind. Before you go into our record, keep in mind these facts:1)Our first semester team was bad, cause no one in our area knew we had a team. 2)Due to scheduling conflicts, we were forced to forfeit 8 games so we could qualify for nationals.3)In the 2nd semester in games we actually played, our only losses were to MSU and EMU. We were 17-3-1, with a tie to Purdue, a two wins against Merrimac at nationals, and a 2nd place finish at nationals.
