IHC Design Tweaks

Hi Folks,

Shawn Sherrin, an IHC reader and Web master, has graciously offered to make some design upgrades to Inline Hockey Central.

For instance, we're widening the center white section of the Home Page, so that readers will be able to see more Late-Breaking News stories, more column icons, etc. We're also adding spots at the top left and top right side of the Home Page for non-rotating banner ads. The International Speed Hockey League is purchasing one, and another company that you've read a lot about on IHC's Message Board lately, is considering taking the other. /wtimages/icons/smile.gif

If you have any ideas for IHC design improvements, now's a pretty good time to send them our way. /wtimages/icons/cool.gif

What are the advantages? I'm pretty darned pleased with the current Message Boards, myself, especially since I know how horrible it was to have previous versions that sucked.

vBulletin Owned License: $160

Installation - First Time $135

So that's $295 just for starters.

As far as the Message Board, here's my take:
I am a bit of a message board junky and have used all kinds of MBs. Personally, for IHC, I love this MB. The colors are not loud or offensive, and it maintains the professionalism of the site and its readers. It is not overcrowed with graphics, icons, avatars, images and alot of other personalizations. It is easy to navigate, post, moniter, and read. People sometimes like image make over. And I agree the home page could use a little. But this MB is great so please don't look to change it. In addition, I think this MB has also been very reliable. Its been a long time since its gone down (where's the thread now on superstitions?)

Not sure if I am reading your response right, and if not than what I am about to type won't be useful, but you can change the way the message board is veiwed in your preferences. For example I have mine set so that when I enter a board, I only see the topics listed, not every response to the topic. Then when I click on a topic I want to read, all the responses are listed there in order on one page, so you can just scroll down, and read all the posts for that topic without having to ever open a new page. Hopefully that dribble I typed will make sense and help you out....

vBulletin boards are not that great, espicially ofr that kind of money. I like the boards as is.

I agree Rebecca. I moderate a board use vBulletin and I prefer IHC's MB. It suits the site just fine imo.

hey, you're right it's not a design tweek but a complete overhaul. It was just a suggestion, I understand that $$$ is always an issue. I enjoy this site and like it the way it is. I just prefer vB's look, feel and layout.

Yes they used to be called hockey sticks /wtimages/icons/smile.gif, now I keep looking for seeds for those new graphite trees.

On the side of the page the thing you click to scroll the page are red and black colored.
