Mission M1 stick

i was almost interested in buying this stick but really $130 is a ridiculous amount of money. i can get 4 decent sticks for that same price (easton carbon hybrid is like $30 ). specially after seeing Friesen the other night recieve a weak little pass and broke his stick lol. anyone have any good experiences with this stick i mean how is worth even 1/2 that price?

I got nothin' scientific to back this up...but...

I am beginning to believe that the carbon/kevlar composite sticks might be like the old plate glass windows they put into houses beginning around the turn of the (20th) century...the older they get, the stronger they get...my Synergy broke after only three-months, maybe 200 hours of usage...I put a new blade in the butt end, put a rasped-down butt end in the broken end, and haven't had a problem since...although I have indeed worn out three blades at this point. The silver paint is almost all chipped/worn off, and the stick's primary color is practically black!

Anybody else had a similar experience???

I agree, however, that (example) the $70 Ultralight performs as capably as the $160 Synergy...or does my fourth blade make the Synergy into a $300 Synergy??? perhaps to go with my $105 Stubbies?

I have heard some bad things about the M1's, maybe it would be worth it if it was cheaper than $130.

I used the M-1s and when I had a problem Mission was quick to fix the problems.. There were some things with them in the beginning production of the stick that have been worked out.. I have 2 still but I am using a mission shaft right now instead. I have a hard time with 1 piece sticks (all not just Mission) so I am using the Dangler shafts right now and love them also..

As far as Friesen a soft little pass in the NHL isn't really all that soft.. And I am not sure if he is the guy on the team that uses M-1s with a wood blade. One of the guys uses that set up..

Oh yeah, I remember that about how Mission had to fix some problems that were aparant in earlier models.

Rafalski uses the Mission shaft with the wood blade in it. But come on, do you really think the pass caused the stick to break? Couldn't have been the slashes and abuse from earlier shifts right? Nah it was the pass.....

either which way $130 for a stick and you cant get slashed? i have heard alot of people say these one peice sticks break in the same spot all the time i was just using Friesen as an example. $30 dollar stick breaks not that big of a deal but unless im on flow for mission i'd be pretty pissed if it broke.

Nice call on the slashes Chris... I am sure that definately had alot more to do with it than just the pass.. But they do pass at like 80 mph to so I am sure that was the final straw for the stick..

Easton, (I know they are not Mission), even acknowledged the breakage problems of their recent Synergys. Apparently they are pushing the envelope in terms of lightness, and it is making the sticks weaker. I am not sure if the sticks you and I can buy off the rack are the same specs as what the pros are using, I would doubt it.

Hey look if you don't want to shell out the $130, then don't, but look at the shops, and the people playing in your local leagues, they are not having any trouble moving them. My only point was to say that accusing the stick of breaking BECAUSE of recieving a pass, was a little naive. For what it is worth I haven't picked one up, because I am certain if I were to, someone in my league would fall on it in the first game guaranteed. :)

I really wouldn't trust it. I was taking a faceoff and the other guy had one, and it broke when I tied up his stick, I just don't trust too many one-peice sticks unless I can get it for undder $100.

Speaking of that, A while ago I saw a bauer tri-flex in Great Skate Hockey Catalog and it seemed like the one peice, only problem being it was with the wood sticks and for somewhere aorund $15 (don't have the catalog on me now). So naturally being broke and having no job I called and ordered one, they said it was a mis-print and it was missing a 0 in the price. I still haven't receiverd my stick and that was around 3 weeks ago. Kinda pissing me off, I want my $15 one peice stick!!

Great Skate had other mispricing in the catalog and then backed out of the price. It really ****es me off! I want equipment cheap because of their mistakes. lol
